Visited here for Sunday lunch after a lovely walk around the lakes. This was the perfect afternoon hideaway, log fires, cosy bar and wonderful period features. The Sunday lunch was delightful! I have the beef and Yorkshire pudding, the beef was cooked to perfection. Pink in the middle, wonderfully tender and tasty. The Yorkshire pudding was HUGE and cooked to...

Went for a meal here on a Friday night - the food, service and atmosphere was great. The menu changes seasonally and has lots to choose from. Really wide range of drinks as well, including all the local specialties. Looked after me as a coeliac really well. Will definitely return.

We recently took a last minute three night break at the Queens Head, as it is in such a wonderful location for the South Lakes. We were extremely impressed with everything we would expect from a small and personal hotel. The rooms were excellent, the food was superb (try the steaks on the Monday night offer) and the staff were...

Another fabulous weekend at this hotel. Fab staff and food as always. Only reason for only scoring a 4 out of 5 this time was no bath and poor water pressure in shower but apart from that is was great.

What a lovely weekend we had! And what a lovely hotel with beautifully thought out bedrooms. The main reason for this review is to rate the food- excellent doesn't cut it! Our meal on the Sunday evening was THE best we have ever had and we have dined in a lot if places ! The steak is to die for!...

We've stayed at the Queen's Head several times over the last few years. It's always a pleasure to go back; good food, friendly staff and the rooms are lovely. The rooms were refurbished fairly recently. We've stayed in the suite and the standard double and we'd happily recommend either. Shame there isn't room for some cosy seating in the bar...

We have visited Hawkshead many times and sampled other hostelries but this is our favourite. We have been just for drinks and the real ale (of which there are several choices) is kept in great condition. We have also eaten here and found the quality is top end pub style. The service has always been good and the staff very...

We went for dinner 4 adults and two teenagers on a Saturday night. The pub was very busy. The starters of belly pork, garlic pizza bread and potted shrimp cocktail were all delicious but the ordered assorted breads with oil never materialised except on the bill! Three ordered shepherds pie, 2 pizzas and I had braised lamb shoulder. My dish...

We arrived as a family of 6 , table was ready and pub was busy. Took a little while to get our drinks but lovely real ale and great nibbles to tied us over until our mains were ready. Pork belly and crayfish starters were lovely. 3 of us had the shepherds pie and red cabbage special it was lovely...
