Staff were lovely. Can't do enough. Room was lovely. Very comfortable. Beautiful setting. Food could be beautiful but lacks refinement. Would definitely visit again. Looking forward to seeing if something for kids will be put in outside but it would still attract me back without them!

Recommended by a friend. Looked promising when we went for anniversary weekend walking weekend. Bar was quite cosy but there was no atmosphere and we soon realised why no one was there -the evening meal was one of the worst I think I have eaten. However our room even though small was well appointed and bathroom etc had obviously been...

From arriving on 23rd Dec to departing on 28th Dec Christina and all the other staff made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, a very good choice in the evening and an excellent breakfast menu. As our bedroom was at the front of the Inn the only negative was the traffic noise but...

We stayed here for two nights as a treat to ourselves before the Christmas holidays. On both days we ate breakfast and dinner here and it was all lovely and hearty stuff. I can definitely recommend the cheeseboard and the sticky toffee pudding! The real ale is great and the wine list has a good variety. The best part is...

This pub looks lovely from the roadside so we had Sunday Lunch here today. The restaurant was exceptionally cold on arrival and didn't feel even slightly warm when we left. The food was just okay, but the temperature of the pub was unacceptable. We will not be back.

Hello Castoroil, I'm really sorry you found our restaurant a little cold. We have experienced some problems with our heating system last week and the heating downstairs was on and off for a couple of days. Thankfully the problem has now been rectified, and while I appreciate it doesn't change your (rather cold) dining experience with us last week, I...

We popped in for lunch on our way back to Bowness from a visit to the Lake District Wildlife Park in Bassenthwaite. We seemed to wait a while at the bar initially before we were served which was strange as there was only one other couple in the restaurant. However, we persevered due to the ambiance created by the two...

Hello Andrew, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I'm glad you have enjoyed a cosy atmosphere and great drinks. I'm sorry you felt your baguettes were over filled - we serve generous portions as we get a lot of hungry walkers needing plenty of energy :) I'm very sorry to hear your baguettes were too dry, we serve...

From the moment we walked in we were made very welcome (including the dog) and loved the quaint old English pub with 2 real coal fires and great freshly prepared food and lovely accompanying g drinks. Well worth a stop.

We spent one night here on our way home. At £60 for bed and breakfast for two it was excellent value. The evening menu had a good choice and the food was very good. The building is old and full of character. The only downside is the traffic noise however it was bearable.
