We stayed in the twin room which was comfortable, quiet and clean. The hostel is also in a great position with beautiful views. However, when we arrived on Friday evening at 6ish we asked if we could have food at the hostel that night and were told quite rudely that we couldn't (despite signs saying you could book food before... Accomodation very good - we all shared a comfortable bedroom with excellent shower and toilet facilities. Main coomunal areas excellent with well stocked bar and really good value food (breakfast, packed lunches and dinner). Hosts were really friendly and could not have done... More

When I asked the kids if they felt at home at Thorney How, they said, "Yes, except the food was way better here." My son gave the chicken pie a 10 thumbs up. It was a great place to stay for our walking holiday. There were plenty of easy ish routes for our 5 & 7 year old, on the... More

We only stayed one night on this visit, but were impressed with the warm welcome, comfortable, clean room and the bonus of an excellent exhibition of poetry and photographs in the bar/café area. Lovely sipping beer outside at dusk listening to owls in the peaceful countryside. Although the place was almost full, guests were hard to spot! A general atmosphere... More
