Booked well in advance, explained on booking that one member required dairy free diet, on arrival we were told by a very kind and willing receptionist that there was "probably" dairy free butter but if not she had some at home (not sure how that...More
Best bits were the staff (very helpful), the location and the food .. evening meal was great & breakfasts were excellent..all fresh cooked. It's 2 minute walk down to the lake or the lovely town of Coniston is about a ten minute walk away. If...More

Had 2 days away and this was much better than expected, the location is great on the bank of lake Coniston with beautiful grounds.
The staff looked after use helping with any request, but the food was better than we could have ever expected.

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms we booked were clean, functional and dog friendly just not very luxurious and with the decor a bit on the tired side I.e not as nice as a room in our own house or a premier inn / holiday inn express. I’d book it as a practical place to stay in a great village but wouldn’t necessarily regard it as somewhere I’d take my wife as a treat or for a romantic break as there are much nicer hotels in the lakes in this this price bracket for that sort of thing.
