We stayed just two nights in this newly renovated hotel which has been refurbished to a high standard. We upgraded to a more expensive double room which was nicely furnished, excellent bed and bedding and a large comfortable room with sofa, fridge etc., nice bathroom large fluffy towels and very clean. We felt accommodation was expensive but as we knew...

Arrived a little early for our afternoon tea booking but were welcomed and seated immediately. Offered tea or coffee straight away which arrived swiftly and with only a short wait our three tier treat arrived. With a lovely selection of sandwiches (apart from the coronation chicken which I really dislike but my dinner date enjoyed) and a generous choice of...

We booked the trout hotel for two nights and took the dog with us too. We had room 205 which had a little balcony from where you could see the river. The room was spacious and had a lovely bathroom. This was unfortunately the only part of the hotel the dog was allowed so other than breakfast (great choice and...

Steak and Ale pie, carrots, green beans and chips. Cut not cut the pastry on the pie. The meat was overcooked but just to top it off the chips were soggy and stone cold. Worst meal out i have ever had. Pointed out my complaint and was brought a dish of hot chips. Too little Too late.

Cockermouth is a delightful market town in the Lake District close to the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake. We stayed at The Trout Hotel for 3 nights over Easter weekend. The service was excellent. The staff were welcoming , the breakfast was superb and included Easter hot cross buns! The room was so clean and beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed...

One of the nicest places to stay i have ever been to. Light, open and very welcoming. The rooms are top spec and very modern, lovely and clean. As a fan of a good malt, the range of whisky is fantastic. Breakfast was really nice, full English with seemingly unlimited tea and fruit juice 👍 would definitely stop here again....

The Bistro is a great place to eat and the staff couldn't do enough to help always ready to chat too. It was open all day so with the little ones in our party we could have a nice meal without having to wait til the pubs start serving at 6/6.30

I love this hotel and on previous occasions our experience with the food has been good. However on this occasion, which was a special occasion, I was disappointed. The menu was not very inspiring or informative and there was strangely little choice of the kind one might expect in an establishment of this reputation. For instance i was hoping for...

arranged to meet a friend for a light bite before a concert. I arrived at 5.30, but was told they stopped serving sandwiches at 5pm. The bar man asked the chef and they very kindly made us some sandwiches which were very good - especially the beef. We ate outside in the sunny garden. Thank you for your service.

Been visiting cockermouth for years but this was the first time I had been in The Trout and was impressed. Attended a family party, had large private room to ourselves which was well laid out. Preordered from a set lunch menu and didn't disappoint, the food was excellent. Also wine by the bottle was quite reasonably priced. Staff very friendly...
