We had to work in the area for one week and booked this through work. It has so much potential but let's itself down. Dan who is part of the family owned hotel tries very hard but just missing that friendly side. The staff were ok but with a little training on customer care could be so much better. The...

Stayed for one night - wished it had been 2!! Staff were friendly and very attentive. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we had pre-booked in the town, however the breakfast was great. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. We will definitely come back and stay longer now that we know the hotel is dog friendly.

Excellent Staff, Really good location - minutes from the Lake District. Cockerrmouth a short drive away and Keswick around 15 - 20mins away. Staff very attentive and food excellent - BIG, I mean..... BIG Portions.... And Yummee too. Great price, Good value and good location. Only Negative feedback is that the Manager / Owner could do so much more. Rooms...

A privately owned old mansion house set in its own grounds in a peaceful location. Car park was away from the entrance and partly hidden which maintained the rural appearance. The room was larger than the norm with period features but a modern bathroom. A terrace ran the length of the building and was partly protected by a roof. Whilst...

My wife and I had the very enjoyable two night break at this hotel (Thursday/Friday). Room very pleasant, well apportioned bathroom, exceptionally clean and welcoming. Ate in the restaurant both evenings. Thursday was Carvery Night. Excellent meal, large portions, well cooked. Friday normal menu. Good choice very attractively priced. Breakfasts, a wide variety to suit all tastes. To put the...

We got married here on 21st May this year. The day was brilliant from start to finish, everything went so smoothly and just flowed. The staff were excellent, thru couldn't do enough for us and our guests. We had a three course sit down meal and the food was lovely, then we had a buffet in the evening which was...

Found this at the last moment for two days away from the east coast drizzle in exchange for fabulous west coast sunshine. Two rooms booked midweek for less than £70 each per night including a really well cooked breakfast. Post code mystified us by directing us into a near by estate, not helped by a road closed sign just before...

We just had a one night break here. A family run hotel with a warm welcome. It's an old traditional hotel in its own grounds and away from any main roads which meant no traffic noise at night. Did get woken early by the pigeons, peacocks and crows but not much the hotel could do about that!! Good size room...
