A chance booking with some luck. Great little place, lovely room, nice bar and very nice staff. Exception to the delight of the homemade shortbread, amazing, also the best hotel full cooked (Cumbrian) breakfast Ive ever had! Will be back one day.

We found the staff to be really warm and welcoming with great knowledge of the area. They recommended a lovely walk for us in Buttermere which I would thoroughly recommend.

A lovely welcome to the hotel and we were shown to our room. The rooms a little dated but is what I expected from a listed building. The beds were a bit odd heights so we couldn't stay together as such... breakfast was the best
Nice bed , nice room, good shower, quite, warm, nice staff. No parking at hotel except on sundays, public car park across the road, reasonably priced for all day & overnight.

We have just returned after a weekend here. Staff set up a lovely breakfast table in the very pleasant 'back bar' for us and our dog and made us feel very welcome. Dogs are allowed in the bar but not the adjoining bistro... More
