Family room with separate single bedroom which was perfect for my teen daughter. Comfortable beds. Friendly informative owners. Good veggie breakfast. Quiet location with a short walk to shops/pubs/restaurants.

I often use the bigger hotels in and around the Lakes but this time decided to use a smaller B&B. I researched the B&Bs through Trip Advisor and found the reviews for the Melrose Guesthouse. All the reviews were very complimentary and positive so I decided to book a 2 night stay with my partner. Have to say we were...

Very convenient location, close to the centre, lots of nice restaurants, cinema, two fish n chip takeaways, bakeries, lots of outdoor clothing shops and a few public houses. Great for walks and scenery. Lovely bedroom and bathroom, warm and clean, we had surprisingly been upgraded to a superior room, there was a TV a DVD player with some movies, tea/coffee/hot...

Just returned from a two night stay at the Melrose. From our warm welcome to our departure this morning everything was superb. Absolutely spotless, lovely room, great breakfast, advice on walks, restaurants etc., nothing was too much trouble. If going to this area make the Melrose your first choice. Lyz, Edinburgh

I had a lovely three-night stay at Melrose. The room is cosy and comfortable. It was the perfect base for exploring the area, which is beautiful. Lynne and Alan are welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Melrose with my girlfriend. I've seen some of the less favourable reviews of this place, and having seen many reviews on trip advisor, I can't say that I'm particularly surprised - there is just no pleasing some people. We arrived and were welcomed immediately, Lynn was very helpful in terms of...

What a lovely place to visit. Lynn and Alan the owners were both so friendly and knowledgable about the area and walks we could do. The Melrose guesthouse was immaculate, it is decorated complimenting it's setting. The food was delicious and always well presented and hot. Super place to stay, looking forward to visiting again next year.
