Really uncomfortable bed, the mattress was very run down that the springs were digging in your back which resulted in lack of sleep and a bad back. The plumbing is on its way out and the toilet didn't flush. Such a shame as we was looking forward to a childfree weekend with a nice lie in.

I discovered Ambleside Lodge via an internet website, it particularly appealed to me because it had "FREE cancellation". I was looking to book a group holiday for a five us as we were climbing Scafell Pike. I rang to ensure I could get all bookings together. Jacqueline informed me she would send a confirmation email but after a few days...

I stayed at the Ambleside Lodge some years ago and remember being quite satisfied, not so on my recent visit. The place is old and run down, items not working properly in the room include the toilet and two light fittings. The room was dark and miserable although quite clean. The people running the B&B are very friendly but not...

Clean room, TV reluctant to have many channels and the shower was hopeless. The fault of the previous guests according to Pauls Mum. No inclination to get it fixed. Breakfast adequate although cereals were the cheap variety. Very friendly and basic Hotel probably 3 star rather than 4.

It had a big bed with clean bedding But... the toilet didn't flush (sorry cleaners) The shower didn't work The room smelt damp and musty One bedside lamp and the main light bulbs were blown But it was a big room and the hotel could be lovely but it would need a huge investment. My main problem was I couldn't...

Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Room was lovely and clean! Loved our jacuzzi bath! The old couple that run the places were lovely and very helpful! Breakfast was included in the price and was amazing!

I have booked a stay with the Ambleside lodge and had to cancel the trip. I had contacted Ambleside Lodge several occasions and left voice messages for them to call back to cancel the booking ten days prior to the booking. I had spoke to a lady on the phone several times who took my details but was unable to...

We stayed 2 nights here on a bargain deal from one of the well known 'deals' companies. We have seen mixed reviews on here and as ever, did not know what to expect and in fairness, having been to Ambleside Lodge we must agree with several of the comments made but we would also like to speak up on behalf...

Leaving this B&B I could only feel sad. It is run by an elderly couple and their son. As we arrived other guests were arguing about the spa access, with the lady whose response was she didn't want to get involved! It turns out the hotel has 4 spa passes, and 20 rooms - you do the maths and DON'T...

This was a terrific B&B and we were thrilled to get a room here. We stopped in around 11:00am and Paul (the owner) gave us a very warm and friendly welcome. The room was ready for us right away and was large and very nice, on the main floor facing the horse paddock (we later found out this was the...
