I regularly stay in the Ferndale Hotel and always receive a wonderful reception and excellent service. The rooms are very comfortable, good parking, and excellent breakfasts. Rob the owner is friendly, helpful with advice about possible walks, or good places to eat after a busy day, but never intrusive. I highly recommend the Ferndale.

After staying in Ferndale for the Windermere Marathon 2016 we knew it was the perfect place to stay for a visit to Ambleside in 2017. As per last visit, the room was small, comfortable and quiet with wonderful views. The breakfast was excellent and the hospitality was exactly what was required- the perfect balance between giving adequate attention and not...

The Ferndale Lodge is excellent value for money and the staff are very friendly. The b and b has free WiFi but we found the signal very poor. Our bed room was spotless but we found the bed some what firm for our liking. Breakfast is very good and good selection. The location is excellent just a few minutes walk...

Good location with comfort of parking which is bit difficult to find in the center. 5 min walk to restaurants. The host was helpful and went out of way and recommended amazing places to see.Took all our breakfast request in positive way, lot of options for breakfast to start your day well. Would definately stay here again.

Great location, right next to Climbing centre and really close to everything you need, Clean and tidy. Brilliant food in the morning. Car park for residents at the back. Its not cheap but probably now average from Ambleside in September (even out of school holidays). It would be a 4 with a lick of paint, but thats probably personal taste....

Me, my partner and our Patterdale Terrier stayed here second weekend in July. We stayed 3 nights in a pet friendly room which is situated at the back of the property in a separate building. The room was very neat and very clean which is all I ask for in a room really. The hotel is in a great location...

Visited with my son for a walking holiday- we wanted something decent but not too expensive. Ferndale ticks all the boxes! Parked up in their car park (big plus) and greeted by friendly staff. Straight to our nice clean room. Not overly modern decor but bed was comfortable after a long days walking. No bath but really nice shower in...

We stayed for 3 nights in a double room. Room was spacious with an en-suite shower and the comfortable bed led to a good nights sleep. Off road parking at the rear of the hotel is rare and welcome in Ambeside. Breakfast is ordered the night before and cooked to order, plentiful and very tasty. Cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt and...

Our host was away so we were ably looked after by his mother. She was welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable with a generous hospitality tray. The breakfast room was well set out with a wonderful array of fresh fruit to go with our cereal and yoghurt. Mary produced exactly what we wanted for a cooked breakfast...
