Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband. We upgraded to the double room with four poster bed after reading on other tripadvisor reviews that the rooms were small. Our room was nice and spacious with a small couch and armchair as well as the four poster bed and the bathroom was also spacious and clean with a good shower...

Just stayed at the Queens and generally OK but really made a very pleasant stay with a good choice of breakfast alternatives. One of our party wanted a specific basic item to help with their breakfast. 2-3 minutes later it was produced (Soya milk) which was probably got from the local shop just for that request. They even offered to...

The room was clean and tidy, staff pleasant. We had food at night it was good, breakfast was good. The hotel was old but ok for a one night stay over. We would stop over again, parking was a bit of a problem as they have very limited space.

Visiting Ambleside during a week's stay in the Lake District and decided to have lunch in the Queen's. Friendly and prompt welcome at the bar which was extremely well stocked with at least 5 local real ales. Food was of great quality and large portions with a very extensive choice. They even adjusted the meals to what we wanted without...

As a base for walking this is convenient. Stayed for one night and it was ok but not sure if I would have stayed longer. The room I was allocated as a single was quite spacious unlike some other reviews of single rooms. Although it looked tired in parts the accommodation was clean and not much time was spent in...

We were in dire need of finding somewhere in Ambleside to watch day 1 of the 4th Ashes test. Wickets were tumbling but several of the possible venues were not yet open. The Queen's hotel was open but it's cellar bar, where the sports TV was, wasn't. Staff though opened up the top bar, put the ashes on and wiped...

Location is excellent but the rooms are fairly tired. Still maintained spotlessly and perfect for us to get our head down on the final night of our trip. Try and avoid room 20 as it seems to be above smokers corner and comes with the associated odour. Breakfast was nice and simple, mostly cooked to order except the pancakes which...

The pub also has a collection of board games and we enjoyed a couple of hourslaying them. Really enjyoed this pub restaurnt and would...

Been a few times over the last 3-4 years and the food has always been OK, typical pub food and plenty of it, beer always good. Went here yesterday for the first time in a year and the portion size of the fish and chips was pitiful, fish was dry and chips just bordering on being burnt. Beer was a...

Thank you for your comments. Glad you liked the location and the friendly staff. As a matter of fact, I have stayed in the Hotel as a paying guest in most of the rooms and most rooms have some very good distinctive features which I enjoyed. It was built in the 17th century, and a lot of the features and configuration...
