We stayed at the hotel for the New Year celebrations and feel on reflection that the premium price charged for those two nights was not reflected in what was delivered. There was little by way of entertainment but the usual fireworks and a very late running and noisy

Response from JDManager, General Manager at Skelwith Bridge Hotel
Responded 4 days ago
Thank you for your response. I would have liked a little more information as to why you feel a one star review is justified. (I believe from our duty manager that you gave very positive feed back on departure.) Perhaps, as this is your very first review on Trip Advisor, you will become more adept at these as time goes on. Our New Years package offers excellent value for money with fabulous food, drinks, surroundings and service. This is why it is fully booked year on year. The fireworks and disco/karaoke were described in detail on all our New Years brochures and online and on this we delivered admirably. I am unsure what entertainment you were expecting? Yes our team were made to feel very welcome and join in the celebrations. (It is their New Year too after all!) and after working their socks off all year round very well deserved too. I am sorry that you won`t be returning to us but would like to mention here that we are down to our very last few rooms for 2019/20 New Year celebrations already; so evidently we did not disappoint many of our wonderful guests.

Thank you for your question ... Our Talbot Bar is dog friendly and we even have a doggy menu in there. The hotel restaurant is dog free to allow guests to dine away from four legged friends. Dogs are to be kept on their leads and off furniture at all times

How far is it to walk to Ambleside village? Thanks.
It is about 2.5 miles so probably about an hour - bear in mind that the road is narrow in places, very busy and no footpath!
