We stayed for one night only, booking and check in very easy, pleasant hosts, clean property, parking a bonus and great location. The only reason for not scoring higher is it's very very dated and we found it quite a stifling environment and it could do with a long overdue upgrade. Breakfast was nice with strict times and served between...

I was informed by email 3 days before arriving for a 3-night stay, that my booking had been cancelled due to ill health. I made the booking well in advance (actually when I booked my flight over to the UK 3 months previously). It was impossible to find another single room in Ambleside or anywhere around at such short notice...

The Anchorage was recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed... A minutes quick walk and your in the centre of Ambleside... Arthur & Helen have a very well run Guesthouse ... Clean & Tidy ... Also with off road parking which can save you a few pounds parking charges and inconvenience of finding a space... With the occasional...

This is a great b & b in a perfect location just a short walk from Ambleside town centre. Helen and Arthur are lovely people who keep the place spotlessly clean and fresh. The breakfasts couldn't be faulted, beautifully cooked and very filling. All in all we would highly recommend The Anchorage, it is pretty much faultless and great value...

We stopped at the Anchorage 23/05/15 for 2 nights. The guest house is excellently located for Ambleside town centre around 2 or 3 minutes walk only. The accommodation is warm and welcoming, Helen and Arthur are great hosts. Our bedroom was bright and very clean with nice fluffy towels. The breakfast was delicious with cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast, tea or...

This B n B is perfect in almost every way, from the warm greeting to the homely atmosphere and wonderful hosts and it just so happens to be a 30 second walk to the centre, so easy to find. Some of the rooms may be on the small side but when visiting such a magnificent part of the country who...

Thank you Helen and Arthur for a lovely week. A great welcome, with a good full English breakfast to set us up for the day ! We had the Admiral's room which was clean and comfortable. This B&B is perfectly located to visit the Lake District, and to wander into Ambleside to eat in the evening without having to get...
