We stayed one night at the Mercure Royal Hotel, and found it to be a good hotel for the price. It's a great location in a historic building next to Hull central train station, with free parking for hotel guests. The main reception area and lounge was pleasant and welcoming. Check-in was simple, and the staff were friendly and helpful....

The facade is that of a grand old hotel and the foyer doesn't disappoint although it does look a little tired and could do with a revamp. There is free parking but this isn't signed posted very well. So just park up and register your car at reception. My wife and I stayed in Room 308 and although the room...

Stayed many times in Hull but first time at the Royal Hotel and wont be the last. Hotel next to the station with free parking. My room was on the opposite side to the platforms so no disturbance from the trains or the announcements. !!! Room not the biggest and more than comfortable. Did not have dinner but the buffet...

I was here for a county darts weekend so only stayed one night but everything was brilliant, check in was quick, rooms were clean and pleasant and breakfast was great choice of hot and cold food and they bring you either a pot of tea or cup of coffee when you sit down for breakfast. On the whole hotel was...

This is the second time I have stayed at the Mercure Royal Hotel. Its great benefit is that it is central to the city, and right on the railway station. The Royal Hotel has a long history, yet it is a pleasant, warm and welcoming hotel. The entrance hall is also a lounge area and bar, and it has the...

Warm welcome on arrival. Pleasant room, quite small but at least I got a double bed. As a single traveller I have often been in very small rooms in other hotels. Room clean and warm ( I was there on a very cold weekend). Tea and coffee in room. No iron or ironing board but probably available on request. The...

Decided to try a stay in a hotel that wasn't a Premier Inn/Ramada box, for a change. This was a mistake. First room we had literally had a window on to the station platform - quirky, but we could hear every train announcement and the room vibrated as the train engines started. Asked for a change and were given a...

Stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of february. Had a standard room which was adequate. The hotel itself has very grand public rooms as it is an old listed building. Cost of rooms are reasonable. The location is brilliant, the hotel forms a side of the station and there is a back entrance into the station. Easy walk...

Randomly went out mid week with the other half and had the most pleasant evening, not booked a table but had a lovely welcome, relaxed drink and 5 star meal (go for the Lamb).....admittedly, I like food and the quality of food here was most definitely a very pleasant surprise.
