Went there for lunch today. Pub was empty at that stage. We had Excellent food, really tasty. Really hot too. Lovely waitress who was very helpful and adapted my meal to suit me. Service was a little slow. Love the village. Would definitely go there again and recommend the restaurant. Wine and beer was good too.

Four of us went for dinner February 13th, and the quality of the food was fantastic. The staff were attentive and the beer and the wine was exceptional. This was our first time there and I hope to go again in the future.

We visited The Chequers Inn for a romantic evening. The staff and locals were really friendly from the moment we arrived. The bar was full of character, and the Doom Bar ale was particularly good. The room was spacious and clean, the luxurious copper bath was a nice feature. Our evening meal was lovely, possibly the best rib eye steak...

We stayed in the lovely old Chequers Inn in the picturesque village of Smarden at Christmas. We ate the best Christmas lunch we've ever had in a restaurant. Great value, beautifully presented and served by friendly staff at our own pace. The dining areas had a Christmassy, relaxing and convivial atmosphere, with a roaring wood fire. Lovely hospitality and great...

Second year of coming for Christmas lunch. Food, service, ambiance terrific. We eat here often and have never had a bad meal. Four members of our family stayed at the hotel and couldn't be more complimentary about the rooms.

On arrival, there is a large sign directing you to the car park, and a covered walkway into the building. With a quick check in service, we were shown to our room. On the landing was a ladder, which we were told to be careful of, as they were having work done. The room was very cosy, but the shower...

Friendly and very helpful staff on one of the busiest days of the year, Smarden Spectacular fireworks and parade and we arrived to check in as the crowds gathered. It was easy and straightforward. We were very late for our table booked in the restaurant after watching the parade and fireworks yet they were so accommodating and cooked everything to...
