We were recommended to this hotel and were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you, couldn't have done more. Our room faced the roundabout but the secondary glazing completely removed any road noise. We had a good night's sleep in a comfortable room/suite. The hotel has it's own car park and is very well positioned for...

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. Our room was in the block separate to the main building. I was a bit worried initially as I'd read some bad reviews about the rooms in this block but thankfully my only criticism was that the radiators woke me up on the first night gurgling! This was fixed the following...

I spent 2 nights in november in this lovely hotel. It's not in the centre but not so far away; only 15 minutes walk. It's a nice place, quiet and peaceful. The room is larger than average for UK hotels and offers the normal facilities. The staff are really good: nice people, kind and helpful. They looked after me and my son...

Service was excellent. Proximity was very good for getting to the center of town. Only spent one night but it was very nice. Downside was the noise from other rooms early in the morning. So, don't plan on quiet. Staff at breakfast were somewhat helpful but it was confusing. I would highly recommend the place though.

This hotel is just one long block from the center of town. Our room had a fabulous view of the castle ruins across the street. Apparently staffed by Masters and PHD students from Kent University, the reception was well-meaning and mostly very effective. Management is very accommodating and willing to go to great lengths to make sure we were happy....

Travelling with a friend and my wife we had two rooms booked. The check-in was informative, friendly and helpful. One room, in the main house was lovely, in the annex room 12 was less well furnished and the heating system seems about as old as the castle opposite. The hotel is a tale of two halves, staff are friendly, the...

My Daughter and I needed a hotel for an overnight stay to provide a good night’s rest for a long journey the next day. I booked the hotel on line at a reduced rate, under the impression that this was the last room available. Upon arrival the room was not ready so we waited in the bar/lounge area which we...

The hotel is very well situated and easy to get to but just a slow 10 minute walk to Canterbury town centre. Very well appointed, clean spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has 13 bedrooms and the price included breakfast (continental and full English). I would highly recommend this hotel and will look to go back...

Stayed here for two nights with breakfast midweek. Firstly I recommend to try booking with the hotel first. I found it was cheaper than booking online via websites. As to the actual hotel it is in an excellent location. Close to main roads to drive to and within walking distance of the main points of interest. It took us a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castle House Hotel Castle House Hotel is built astride the ancient city walls of Canterbury and standing in the shadow of Henry II's Great Keep itself - reputedly the third largest in the Kingdom . This unique building is your choice for a bed and breakfast experience, steeped in history. Castle House Hotel is an architectural gem and a scheduled ancient monument. The main house was built in the 1730s, incorporating part of the Norman city walls, the Roman Worthgate, and the only visible remaining section of the original city moat, now of course drained of water. Here, surrounded by Georgian opulence and decoration of the highest standard, you are just a few minutes' short walk from the whole of the mediaeval city: the magnificent Cathedral; the maze of winding streets and the romantic ruins of the Castle and city walls... Book your room at Castle House Hotel and history and convenience will combine to make your stay both memorable and enjoyable. All our rooms have been decorated to the highest standards, benefit from en suite or private facilities, and provide you with every modern comfort from contemporary flat screen digital TV to high speed wireless broadband at no extra cost. ... more   less
