Really clean, comfortable, room was small but we expected that, it was very well kept, staff were amazing and so friendly, smiley and happy, and helpful, helped us with wifi and a map of Canterbury etc, breakfast was fabulous and we would defiantly stay again :)

Had to pay for parking in a nearby public car park, but £6 for 24 hrs (from the hotel) didn't seem unreasonable for Canturbury. Room rather small, but quaint and comfortable and not too noisy despite facing the Marlowe theatre. Food very acceptable in 'Dens' the associated restaurant, and breakfast just what we needed.

Thanks Rick - yes, we can currently give the best value city centre parking for pretty much anywhere in the south of England so good that you could take full advantage of it. Yes, the Marlowe Theatre is directly opposite the hotel but the latest shows finish around 9.55 pm, approximately and the audiences are rarely rowdy or noisy! A... More

There is no lift in this little inn but staff always carried our luggage up and down the windy staircase. Our room was small but we had a queen bed, armoire, desk and nightstand. The staff was very accommodating. You have a choice of eating in two places; the hotel bar/restaurant or a cafe with piano bar called Dems. The... More

Thanks Carolyn - food in both restaurants is normally of the highest quality so I'm sorry you were a little disappointed in Dems on this occasion. Hopefully you can come back and try us again soon. More

Close to centre of old town, Marlowe theatre opposite, Cathedral 100 metres away, and heaps of shopping and restaurants. Because of the age of the hotel lots of squeaky floorboards, but room was great with bottles of water, tea, biscuits, small but modern bathroom, good WIFI! Beautiful Breakfast in French restaurant at front of hotel.

A few squeaky floorboards but no ghosts (we think!). You are quite right John, the hotel is in a 400 year-old building but has great character and, we think, charm. Glad you enjoyed breakfast in Dems! More

Great location - right in the centre on Canterbury. There is no parking at the hotel but in a public car park about 3 mins walk away. We dropped our luggage and this was taken up to our room whilst we parked - parking is at an additional cost of £6 for 24 hours. My daughter and I stayed in... More

Second time we have stayed at this hotel in a fantastic location just off the high street near the Marlow Theatre and very close to the cathedral. The rooms are modern and clean with the staff checking that the room has been made out perfectly for us. The complementary breakfast in Dems is a bonus although we also ate there... More

Hi Ricky Our hotel is located within a 400 year-old building and retaining the character of the place whilst providing up-to-date facilities has always been our over-arching aim. We'd never claim our bathrooms are palatial but hopefully they are up to scratch! Bath towels are not normally tiny so thanks for mentioning, we can check what happened there and we... More

Excellent family rooms; staff is extremely polite, informed, and helpful. Food in restaurant was good and the price reasonable. Would stay here again because it's the entire package: good rooms, good staff, good meals! Only downfall is unloading area is limited and parking is a small walk- but it's good and beautiful 4 minute walk to the car!

Thanks Robert - yes, the price we pay for such a central location close to the High Street and Cathedral, etc, is the short walk to the car park, as you say, about 4 minutes away. Happily you can unload your luggage literally outside our front door before parking up and returning quickly. Glad your overall experience was good. More

Lovely old hotel right in the middle of Canterbury. Room was very clean. The bathroom had a lovely rainfall shower and was also very clean. All of the staff were very polite and friendly. Staff were very friendly and informative, the hotel is probably in the best location in town - near all the fun, but quiet. The sister restaurant Dems (French Brasserie) was very reasonable with high quality food - mussels were fantastic! Eggs Benedict next morning was probably the best I ever had, thickest roast ham and lashings of Hollandaise, didn't feel... More
