Clean bathroom, towels, bedding. Bed old and grubby and supremely uncomfortable. Floor boards creaking below and above. Walls thin so neighbours clearly audible. Needs a massive makeover and at very least investment in decent beds. At least I won't have to go back. Lesson: a good sleep is worth an extra £15 which I could have paid elsewhere close by....

Stayed in room 6. Part eaten Chinese meal in fridge. Double glazing didn't keep out the road noise. Curtains were too thin and let too much daylight in in the morning. Mattress was old with broken springs. Couldn't sit on the loo properly due to boxing in of pipes under the sink. No breakfast included so not a B&B. Building...

I stayed just for a night and it is a very cute place, ancient but very well preserved. The old house keeps the windows and stairs, so have it in mind if you are not up to going upstairs. Rooms are big enough, although the beds are a bit soft I must say. Breakfast is not included, but for 9extra...

Spent the night whilst visiting friends in the area. Very reasonably priced with friendly staff, well maintained bedroom with TV, shower, fridge, coffee/tea and enjoyable full breakfast in the morning. Very good value.

We recently had two placement students stay here, each for three weeks. Never again! I know it's cheap but there are alternatives in the local area. I don't know what kind of people work or stay in this B&B but somebody pinched a brand new set of lights from a bicycle which was left in the hotel reception. The hotel...

Im disappointed to read this review in a way as a hotel or b/b cant be held responsible for a push bike that was left out by a guest, Had the guest contacted us we would of secured it. Like in any car park, cloakroom etc we are not responsible for any loss. Both the people that made this booking were...

A friend of mine is staying temporarily, while waiting for her house to be ready, well what can I say - a warm welcome from Stuart, help is on hand if needed, a good place to be, I really hope he is appreciated by the owners and they feel he is a complete asset to Avalon House.

I stayed here this year on business, and found the placed to well run, and comfortable, the week-end I stayed the hotel was quiet, but though on a busy road its well set back, so it was not a problem, the room was tidy, and clean with all that was needed for a good stay, the breakfast was early so...

Me, my mum and my sister stayed here for two nights whilst we visited some places around london. The price was reasonable, we stayed in the family room. Everything was clean and tidy, although the room was pretty basic it served it's job and was nice to stay in. It had a little tv, microwave, fridge and kettle, the tv...

Stayed here for a few weeks between May and June. Staff and owners were friendly and made us feel at home. Got free breakfast with the room and free WiFi. Beds were comfortable, shower had good water pressure (and we were in one of three rooms on the top floor), and town centre was just a short bus ride away...

We reserved 2 rooms several weeks ago at this place and received email acknowledgment. When we turned up last night (25th May) the surly individual refused to honour it saying it was full. When I showed him the email he mumbled something about change of ownership and said he could do nothing. I care nothing for change of ownership. The...
