Third visit to the Wykeham. It struck me this time that the pub models itself much on Hotel du Vin - with the French-named rooms instead of numbers, and the posh in-room toiletries, fresh milk in the fridge etc. In general it makes a good match - however there is no question that the single rooms in the annex are...

We have stayed at the Wykeham at least once per year for the last 6 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Winchester now. The food is great; staff always lovely and the rooms cosy. Hospitality tray is the best I have experienced in my travels. Rooms are made up daily quickly and to a high standard.

Our expectations were exceeded. Friend recommended as it had been outstanding, but this was better. Reception and service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The food (dinner and breakfast) was outstanding. Delicious flavours and the right amount. Good wine list at reasonable prices. Old-world pub atmosphere is great. Bedroom was comfortable and bathroom well-appointed.

I received a very warm welcome from staff on check in, my room (a single) was small but pleasant and had everything I needed. After having booked to stay here the restaurant was actually recommended to me, and I have to say that the food and service really is fantastic. The inn itself is cosy with an historical feel, superb...

Lovely little hotel and pub in the middle of old town Winchester: nice food, cozy homey rooms and friendly efficient service. I stayed here many times now and will always consider it a home. It as a distinct personality and is a great break from commercial hotels.

The building is quirky .so that has to be taken into account when assessing the room. The bedroom was comfortable with its own charm, the bathroom large .We liked the fact that water, realcoffee, biscuits were provided. Breakfast absolutely delicious. A bit of street noise but it is in the city!

Everything about our stay here exceeded our expectations. From very friendly staff greeting us to excellent food and drink in the restaurant and bar to a large, well stocked and comfortable bedroom with a lovely en-suite roll top bath and a very comfortable king size bed.
