What a special place this is. My Husband and I stayed here for our 30th anniversary and we booked the afternoon tea as an additional treat. Not only is the house and grounds steeped in history it is incredibly well kept and stunning. We have never received such high quality customer service and we have stayed at quite a few...

Just returned from attending my nieces wedding at Winchester Cathedral staying at Lainston House Hotel Winchester from Friday until Monday, flying from Newcastle.Excellent hotel, dining and large bedroom. The only downside was getting stung by Airport taxi firm on arrival. Quoted £30 from Airport to Hotel but on arrival was told by driver cost was £48. Obviously couldn't argue so be...

We attended the Masked Ball at LH and stayed overnight in a "cosy" bedroom but were pleasantly surprised at its size and its large bathroom with Jacuzzi. Both were immaculately presented and the bed extremely comfortable. That evening, a beautifully laid up dinner table although, dinner itself was slightly disappointing; we appreciate that this is fine dining but portions for...

We enjoyed a night away after our wedding here. Being shown to our suite we were like excited children, particularly when we went in and were treated by a guest bathroom and a beautiful lounge area. Excitement increased further when we found we had a sauna. The stay was amazing, the staff were wonderful and for that night I felt...

I was taken here as a surprise, and boy was it a good one! The hotel is simply stunning and the perfect retreat to relax and unwind in. Roaring fires in the lobby, surrounded by 'Joules' wellington boots - I knew I was in heaven! The staff here are superb and are extremely professional and courteous and only add to...

I did the Asian cookery day with Jackie Kearney who was the most entertaining enthusiastic knowlegable funny chatty cook. We were welcomed with tea, coffee and pastries. The old barn the school is housed in is beautiful with an amazing well to look down into. The kitchen is set up is great well organised and a good viewing area of...

We were there for NYE with four other couples. Our group organiser did a fabulous job organising a private room and we chose the eight course taster menu. The food and associated wines were excellent. Without the fireworks midnight lacked a little focus, and for what we were paying a glass of bubbly for everybody wouldn't be too much to...

We had three nights at the Lainston which included the New Year's Eve masked ball in the Barn. Our room was one of the standard ones linked to the main house through a cold corridor. The room was small but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had been recently updated with a good powerful overbath shower. The modern...

Went for afternoon tea this afternoon. Beautiful setting and lovely attentive staff. My friend had booked and said one of us was vegetarian, the other was pregnant (myself) and so we had some dietary requirements. We arrived and again we were asked If we had any dietary requirements. We reiterated. They brought out the tea and then the food; mine...
