Beyond belief. We found the following when we got to our room: Dirty underwear and used covid masks strewn on the floor, old half eaten food on the side, mouldy cups and glasses, soiled toilet, towel, dirty sink. Apparently Booking.com aren’t responsible for the state of the property, yet we booked through them. These are clear covid and public health breaches. We could not get through to anyone on their 24hour hotline, so left the property. We then had to book something else very quickly as we were a long way from home, visiting family. We had to cut our trip short because of this and never received any kind of apology or explanation from the accommodation.
Recently held my daughters 18th birthday party here. Fab venue, good sound system/lighting, easy to get too, lovely friendly bar staff and an amazing manageress. Everyone was helpful, nothing was too much trouble and we felt really looked after. Highly recommend if anyone is looking for a party venue
Stayed here for the night at the last minutes. Car parking provided via a council car park right across the road. Checked in the pub area by two members of staff, one was lovely the other one couldn't wait to go home I feel!! Shown up to a nice sized clean room. Only fault with the room is the toilet was very small and the flush was unbelievably loud!! All in all a nice basic stay
What a nice discovery so near the port prior to my cruise with Azura cruise lines to the Baltic Sea for two weeks. The room was upstairs. No elevator. Fortunately I did not have many bags to take. The restaurant was well lit and the food was quite taste. Do visit even the bar scene to enjoy local people and get to know the area.
Stayed here for a night last minute due to a family member being taken ill at Southampton General Hospital. Arrived about 10.30pm. Quirky pub with character as it is a old Victorian building. Check in was quick and easy. Staff are lovely and friendly. Room 15 was absolutely lovely. Tea and Coffee provided in the rooms. Would definitely recommend and come back.
I booked a room for one night before departing on the QM2 the next day. The room was very tiny, as expected, and up a narrow staircase. The staff was very friendly though and helped me get my big suitcase upstairs. The room was clean and comfortable. I had a really good pub dinner there that night, and breakfast the next morning was excellent. Be aware: the rooms are above a pub. The pub is in an old building. If this is going to be an issue for you, you should stay somewhere else. But for the price, which was quite inexpensive, I thought this place was great. It was a short taxi ride from the train station and I actually walked to the nearby quay the next morning to board my ship. The Flying Dutchman is a dose of authentic Britain.
Been a few times and excellent as always, best black pudding i've ever had and very good menu with a wide selection. Service was also spot on, there are cheaper options elsewhere but this was honestly worth every penny as you can help yourself to the continental items too with any hot breakfast.. Thanx!
Extremely rude bar manager. Disgraceful. Check how much you pay for drinks as printed menu is incorrect well that's what i was informed when i queried paying £12.60 for a single baileys and a single port when the menu price should have been £7.80. When i queried this the bar manager was extremely rude and ended up throwing my money back at me storming over to the table and removing my wife's drink. She was rude to me rude to staff members absolutely disgusted with her behaviour. Please sort your tills or menus out so correct measurements have correct prices and educate the bar manager on customer skills and what measurements go with what drinks as she seems to have no idea on either point.
Loved the place from the moment I arrived. No reception as such but instead you go to the bar to check in. Rooms arranged as cabins, with nautical design throughout. All clean and smelling fresh. Rooms large enough, plenty of stairs though. Parking is not provided but free after 8pm daily or at the paid parking right across the road. Best location for port, promenade and centre with all its bars etc. The was a guy playing guitar at the bar. Almost empty. Nice! Staff were so nice too! Breakfast came as a surprise - didn't know about it being included when booked, and it was lovely (continental). Next time I'm in town I'll definitely want to stay here, especially at this price! Thank you!
It’s a perfect place before you join to the cruise ship. However do not expect so much, basically it’s a pub with rooms. The breakfast was amazing. The room is small, but for one night it’s good enough. The staff is helpful and friendly.
