We received a voucher for afternoon tea. When we booked, it was not mentioned that there was an event happening at the same time which made it very noisy in the restaurant. We were not given any choices of sandwich filling or cake choice and what was presented fell short of our expectation of the Hilton standard. We also noticed at the end of our experience that the sugar bowl was chipped and had coffee stains on the sugar wrappers. Had we noticed at the beginning, we would not have stayed. An email was sent on the same day to alert the Hilton of our experience, but two days later, no response has been received. Such a shame, we had high expectations of Hilton standards
We stayed for 1 night in July 2021 as our daughter is starting University in Southampton this year but hadn't really had the chance to see the city. I chose the hotel because of the availability of parking (we had a bad experience in Cardiff a couple of years ago!). When we arrived the corridor was full of trays that had been used for room service the night before, but as this was 3pm, I was worried that the room wouldn't be ready either. I didn't need to worry though as everything was clean and tidy in both rooms. It was a lovely quiet location for a stay and just what we were hoping for. We booked breakfast when we checked in and it was a pretty spectacular breakfast. Hot food was cooked frequently and brought out as soon as supplies were running low and there was a wide range of foods for those who didn't want a cooked breakfast too. All in all we were all very happy with our stay and intend to stay here again if our daughter gets in to Uni in August!…
I booked a 5 night break at the Ageas Hilton as part of my retirement celebrations so I could watch every session of a 4 day cricket match. My room, on the 3rd floor, overlooked the cricket stadium and was also a very good sun trap for most of the day. I will admit that the overall mood of my review is affected by the cricket but the hotel really did add to the great mood. I was lucky to have perfect weather for the entire stay and Hampshire beat Gloucestershire in a very entertaining match. The view of the ground was superb and I will forever remember this stay. The seating on the balcony was very comfortable and the comfy chair in the room was perfect when placed just inside the doorway when trying to escape the heat. Room service was excellent as was the cleaning team and in fact all the hotel staff were very professional and friendly. The reception team were an absolute credit to the hotel and I am pleased to see other reviews on here that praise them for their friendliness and incredibly natural openness to guests who look lost or have a question. Throughly enjoyable stay and thank you to the whole team for their help in making it that.…
I can't help being amazed by how hospitality people keep delivering top quality service during this difficult times post Brexit. Hotels should not be judged by the problems you might encounter during a stay in this challenging climate but by the way they react to those challenges. In that regards, my respect and admiration to the fantastic team at Hilton at the Ageas Bowl.
We had a lovely 8 day stay at this fabulous hotel. As diamond members we were offered a free upgrade to a beautiful room overlooking the county cricket pitch. A great stay was enhanced by being able to watch Hants vs Lancashire from our balcony! Special mention should be given to Lilly in reception who was very welcoming, helpful and professional. She is a credit to the Hilton brand!
To set the tone of the review – we are going to book again. The rest is just saying “why”. The hotel sits on the Ageas Bowl, the cricket ground close to road links around Southampton, and the motorway to Portsmouth. It is just 35 minutes drive to Portsmouth’s Fratton Park, the reason we stayed, and closer to St Mary’s if staying for football. We have a room with a balcony overlooking the cricket ground, which may well be amazing for a 20-20 game. The room itself was comfortable, large bed and a walk-in shower.. The Internet was good and the TV was not as large as many but it does have Sky and BT sports channels. The king-size bed was comfortable. The standard black box Hilton clock sat on one bedside table. The lighting was good. The balcony is large with two chairs and a table – a bit of a sun trap in the afternoon we were there. The reception was quick and easy. The area is bright and airy. Whilst the hotel was moderately busy when we arrived there was no delay getting in. Car parking was plentiful and controlled. Two of the lifts had security using room keys, as did the staircases. Mask-wearing rules are now a thing of the past here, as most places are becoming. There is a Bar and Restaurant – Beefy’s – both with lots of space and an excellent selection of drinks. There are areas to drink inside and out. We only had breakfast in Beefy’s which was well done and fairly standard English style. The was a single large comfortable chair and table you could work on, some distance to a socket, the table under the TV area notable smaller. It was lacking in USB ports if staying for business and carrying a lot of chargeable devices. Being here for leisure was not a problem. Overall, a very nice hotel, well located with good facilities and pleasant staff. It fitted a sporting environment very well.…
Had another lovely stay, friendly staff, lovely rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathroom with a great shower and a nice breakfast, can't wait to stay again may extend our stay to 2 nights next time if the price is right
Stayed here overnight as part of a spa break. Very friendly staff that took the time to chat. Particularly helpful was Conrad and his colleague who looked like Alan Carr. Room clean and well maintained with a good view.
Golf weekend with 22 friends turned into a big farce off the course. We chose and pre ordered the evening meal with reception on arrival, therefore expected a reasonable service when seated around 8 pm. However, had to wait for starters approx half an hour, then waited over half an hour for main course and by 10.30 pm several of us gave up waiting for desert. We were offered complimentary free drink as a form of compensation but by this time many of us had already left the restaurant. The following day on checkout a colleague was presented with a huge bar bill of hundreds of pounds that he reluctantly paid. We presume the complimentary drink was not so very complimentary! Overall disgraceful behavior. We travel the country on golf weekends and would say this is the worst service we have received in over 20 years!…
Long queue at check in which is an overlong process. Decent room and ok gym. The restaurant however is terrible, second bad experience this evening. 30 minutes to be served a drink and liver main was awful, really stringy. The 2 worst hotel meal experiences I have had have been at this hotel
