As stated before this hotel is definitely more Southsea than central Portsmouth. I found the directions to the hotel to be lacking. The reception staff were friendly and the room clean. The bed was uncomfortable and the bottom sheet barely covered the mattress. The pillows were almost as flat as pancakes! The restaurant staff at breakfast were friendly and explained...

Dear Kim C, Thankyou for taking the time to review your stay with Holiday Inn Portsmouth. Without your feedback we wouldn't be able to continually improve our standards so thankyou. I will pass on your comments about the bed to the housekeeping manager - sadly I don't know your room number but it's still worthwhile them knowing and I will...

Attended for a business training session. The queue of cars to get in the car park was hectic early morning and clearly not enough spaces. Luckily I was advised by another guest I could obtain a free permit to park on the street from reception. Other delegates were not that lucky and ended up paying out for street parking that...

Dear Ka K, Thankyou for taking the time to review your visit to Holiday Inn Portsmouth. Being a city centre hotel we are lucky to have as many on site car parking spaces as we do but, as you found out, when all the spaces are filled we offer free parking permits for the on street parking or the car...

The Holiday Inn Portsmouth could just as easily be called the Holiday Inn Southsea as it is on the very border between the two about a 20 minute walk from Portsmouth Gunwharf Quay but very near to the Southsea’s Clarence Pier. The hotel is one of the older Holiday Inns and despite being refurbished had a slightly old fashioned feel...

Stayed one night at th Holiday Inn, Portsmouth. The room rate per night for an executive room and breakfast of £324.00 was exesssive. This was probably due to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Round the Island sailing race being on that week. Room was clean with views over the Solent. I would not call it an executive room....

Dear adrian_goodwin, Thankyou for taking the time to review your stay with Holiday Inn Portsmouth. I'm sorry to hear you felt it was very expensive but, as you said, there was lots going on in the area that week which meant our rooms were in high demand. The hotel was built in the 1970's so the rooms are ,unfortunately, all...

I have stayed at various Holiday Inn's in the UK and Europe over the last 3 years and this is the worst so far. On the positive side staff were friendly, menu had good selection and the room service food was quite good. Gym was small but OK - not a problem. The problem was the state of the hotel...

Dear themajoroak, Thankyou for taking the time to review your stay with Holiday Inn Portsmouth. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the hotel and you cut your stay short. The hotel was built in the 1970's so, as you said, the rooms are unfortunately all of a similar size, sadly on the smaller size so we have...

I stayed here four nights for business. This is a very average holiday inn with fitness and pool facilities which is always a bonus when away from home. Portsmouth is quite touristy in June so the hotel had both business and holidaying clients. Location wise the hotel was good for local restaurants which I was glad for as the food...

I stay here regularly on business and have never had cause to complain. The staff are unfailingly courteous and welcoming and the rooms are comfortable. Noting some other reviews, increasing the size of bathrooms would entail a major redevelopment which would either reduce room size or the number of rooms and you can get any toiletries you have forgotten from...

Location is great, ideal for Old Portsmouth waterfront and Gunwharf Quays area, 10 minute walk to the naval dockyard area, two minute drive to IOW ferry, 10 minute drive to cross-Channel ferries terminal.
