If you are intending to stay overnight, there are five rooms to choose from, ranging from the stunning “Stag”, with a free standing bath in the bedroom, to the snug “Fallow”. All rooms have been recently re-furbished, blending ancient stone and woodwork, with contemporary style and sophistication. Some come back hoping to meet The White Hart Hotel’s non-paying guest, a friendly ghost whom the locals have nicknamed ‘George’. He sometimes manifests as a vertical white light after closing time in the bar, but only rarely appears as a figure – and then apparently for a reason.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Stag room doesn't quite live up to the impression given by the website. The size is good (bathroom a bit small) and the bed is very comfortable. It says it's recently refurbished but still seems like some of the paintwork and grouting needs refreshing, not a big deal obviously, but a small detail that would make a big difference. As would a thorough dusting of lampshades and window frames, and fixing the broken blind. It clearly states it's on the main square so you do get some traffic noise and from anyone standing outside the pub, it's also directly above the bar so perhaps not for anyone wanting a quiet room. We were ok with that. What was more annoying was the noise the bathroom fan made, ours was really loud and so was the one in the room next door – very annoying if

An interesting Hotel. The "Buck" room was small and quaint. Would have appreciated a separate chair but not enough room for one.Shower room was clean and bright. Breakfast were plentiful with plenty of choice. The one evening meal we had was of good proportion. Hotel parking was a boon as parking in the main square was limited to 2 hours and very busy.

Recently visited here and although there were lots of positives:- very friendly accommodating, hard working evening bar/waiting/chef staff and the food was generally very good. All the party enjoyed their evening dinner. Beds were comfortable and felt clean. There were negatives too. We were disappointed with the rooms, just felt that they had not been deep cleaned for a long time. The shower was good/clean but surrounding areas - not so good - the corners certainly had not been cleaned in a long while, towel rail certainly needed a good clean at the bottom there were lots of marks on the wall both in the bathroom and bedroom. No full length mirror and not much space in the £125.00 a night room - no seats. Also going back to the towel rail - it was scolding hot to

We visit the Cotswolds around twice a year, and always stop off here for lunch. The choice of food is very good, and always excellent quality. A very relaxed feel to the place, would highly recommend.

During y stay over Christmas I was given a free upgrade to one of their rooms in the new wing, in the building next door and it was marvelous. A very large, comfy and beautifully decorated room. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice, freshly made, freshly cooked bacon and eggs as well as other choices.

Overall ok but, we could not open the window in our room (Muntjac) as the sash was broken, the extraction fan in the bathroom (no windows) did not work and my wife left a glass from the bar in the room on Friday evening and it was still there on Sunday when we checked out. On the Sunday morning at breakfast at least half of us (party of 8) had their breakfasts dished up in bowls. This would be fine if we had cereal or porridge but it was a full English, eggs on toast and Haddock with a poached egg. This didn't detract from the quality or taste of the breakfast's but we thought it was odd. We asked the waitress and she said its a new chef. The most worrying was when my sister in law was in the shower washing her hair with the hand held shower between her legs. Her partner

Together with 2 friends we stayed here for New Year's Eve celebrations. Very clean, very accommodating staff. Overall impression is that you get what you pay for. My husband and I were in the bedroom above the bar, so going to bed earlier than 03.00 on New year's Day was out of the question. I cannot fault the staff at all. They were all brilliant and encouraged everyone to join in the celebrations.

We were staying locally and booked an evening meal here- it was truly scrumptious. Portions are large and the Whitebait would have done as as one between two as it was massive- but delicicious. We opted for fish and chips as main and again very large portions. Ambience is second to none staff very attentive too- really recommend this hotel- and I’m sure it’s lovely staying there as so quaint

We chose this hotel because of the description on their website. The room we chose, Stag, the top priced room, was described as ''a newly refurbished, luxury room and having a walk in shower''. In reality, the room was in great need of redecoration, the window frames had not seen a coat of paint in years, the walk in shower had a six inch high step and the bathroom was miniscule, had no storage even for a wash bag, and the grout was missing from the floor tiles in several places. We won't even mention the toilet seat which should have been condemned years ago. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows fit for the bin. The furniture was worn out, junk shop tat and there were no drawers at all for storage. As for cosy, the room was warm enough but the restaurant was freezing as
