The whole place is amazing, steeped in history and very inviting. Our room was incredible, we stayed in Dr Syns bedchamber (once stayed in by the queen mum!). Dinner was was sensational, each course beautifully presented and exceptional in taste. Would highly recommend.

Well...we popped into the bar for a drink by the fire..what an amazing place. Seeped in history as we sat in the bar by the second largest open fire in the country drinking 18yr old single malt whiskey eating a platter of cheeses you could die for. A must..must visit even if it is just for an afternoon cream tea... More

Thank you for your review. The Mermaid is truly unique, rebuilt in 1420, and with so many stories to tell, and so much to see. On a cold winter's day, no better place to be than by the roaring log fire. More

Lovely historic pub. Bubbly bar man with some very good historic knowledge very interesting. The inglenook fire is lovely (even better without someone sat in front) on a very chilly night. Shall be back. Maybe before returning home.

I returned to the Mermaid last week, almost two years since my last visit. I found the experience delightful and a vast improvement over my previous visit. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the room was excellent with a bathroom which appeared to have been recently refurbished and the breakfast was first class. A lovely old former inn,... We stayed at the Mermaid inn for one night for a mini weekend break. The inn was lovely and full of history. It was located in a cobbled street. The room was clean and tidy but the bath was a bit small. The room had a tv and tea/coffee facilities and a good view of the town. Breakfast was ok... More

We stayed here for my birthday, really lovely olde worldly hotel. We had room no. 7 "Moore" creaking floorboards, full of character. My partner had sent balloons and banners for the staff to do up the room as a surprise, which was lovely. Very nice and helpful staff. Bar very friendly, and a couple of lounges to choose from.
