I highly recommend The Shelleys. Very good service, friendly staff and nice Food. Rooms are very good and clean. Really enjoyed our second stay at The Shelleys. A spescial thanks to Jackie for lending me her reading-glasses during our stay! And to the chef for making a very nice birthdaycake.

Thank you for such a wonderful review - there can be no higher honour than that of a returning guest. I was our pleasure to help with the birthday cake and Chef is over the moon with your kind words Jacque was only too pleased to provide her reading glasses and is very much looking forward to your next visit;...

I stayed at this hotel recently in a Superior Double Room, the rate included breakfast. The room and service were very good and would have deserved five stars were it not for the breakfast. When I stayed here previously the breakfast was a la carte, now it's a buffet. A very tired buffet at that, we came down at 9.30am...

Thank you so much for this review and your feedback. There is no question that your comments will be valuable in making further improvements to the breakfast service and please accept my apologies that this aspect was not top notch That aside, we were so glad you enjoyed your overall stay and hopefully we can see you back again before...

This is a tired but very quaint hotel in the heart of Lewes with chintzy style room decor and reasonably sized bedrooms of which we booked three. We can thoroughly recommend an evening meal in the bar where the quality of the cuisine was excellent though the portions were extremely small. It was only when we retired to one of...

This is a rather unusual review for it would appear that the only issue [and we are in no way belittling this patron's concerns] was a crazed and cracked wash basin. As custodians of such an august institution of course we take our responsibilities seriously, having regard for the listed status of the building The commentary around the circuitous route...

I reviewed this hotel several years ago. My wife and I stayed there again for several nights a week ago and found the service to be of a very fine standard. Two small but telling examples 1. Our IPAD recharger failed. The front desk without being asked replaced the fuse and, when that didn't solve the problem, lent us one...

This was a cracker-jacker of a review and what a perfect time to visit the Shelleys, for the magnificent Bonfire Night in Lewes I know Natalie and her team were delighted to welcome you back and were only too pleased to travel that 'extra-mile' Hopefully we can see you back before too long and renewed thanks meanwhile. We popped into The Shelleys Hotel as we were visiting Lewes for the day and the hotel looked like a handsome and interesting building with the added attraction of easy parking which I would guess is at a premium in Lewes. We were told at reception that lunch could be served in either the bar or the restaurant but as...

Very good hotel with good convenient parking. Very good location for Lewes centre and easy to find from A27 side. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Waited longer than normal to have breakfast due to breakfast meeting in another room delaying things - may be more staff required on those types of days!

We stayed for three nights at the end of October. The hotel has good parking, is near the centre of Lewes - handy for restaurants and shops. We enjoyed a good stay. The staff were helpful and fixed a problem with the room lighting straight away. Our room was clean and comfortable - it had a good shower/bath. We would...

Stayed mid week with my wife. The hotel has an older style charm that makes it feel like a large house soaked in history. The staff were very helpful and thoroughly professional. Has own on site parking. Clean / comfortable double room with tea/coffee facilities. Made a good base for a couple of days pottering in Lewes.

I am afraid that this once grand and beautiful hotel is now beyond its sell by date. Tired and lacklustre, it is frankly in desperate need of a face lift. We consider this review to be spurious and can find no trace of this guest staying. It is also with interest that we note that it is supposedly their first review. No concerns were raised while they were allegedly 'in-house' which is strange given the apparent strength of feeling. As such we have been denied the opportunity of reaching out...

We are not sure about the situation this guest is seeking to describe particularly as no contact was made with our General Manager during their period in-house.
