Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade.

Had to think how to review our stay, we stayed for two nights including New Year's eve. The room was nice with a tool top bath and big double shower (stairs up to both) our room had access to a small outside courtyard/balcony which might be nice in the summer. But the doors to the balcony needed looking at and the "net curtains" could do with a clean. But perhaps the biggest thing was that we were not told you have to put a label outside the door when you want the room cleaned. We did question this with reception when we returned to our room later in the day and they did quickly re-stock the room but it's these little things that make a difference.
We spent New year's Eve in the bar and there was a swing band playing which went well. Drinks are hotel pricey as you would expect but are good quality and well made and the bar staff made a drink for us that was not on their menu so a plus for them.
Breakfast was good but would have liked (expected) to have seen a proper vegetarian option, but the staff did offer to make a version up.
I'm not sure that the price we paid for staying over New Year's Eve was worth it, but would stay there again

First visit back since Covid and what pleasant surprise. We have been staying at the Brighton du Vin for many years and have stayed in the top floor suite with the pin ball machine, huge bed, shower, double roll-top baths and balcony and this most recent visit the smaller, quieter 'Rother Valley'. Unfortunately the room was not ready by 1500 but we were offered a complimentary drink whilst we waited. This was booked for my birthday before Covid. We were surprised how well thought out everything was, from the one way system to the many sanitising stations in the public areas. We were there for three nights and in an effort to reduce contact and reassure people, the room was not cleaned or sheets changed. This was fine (we did ask for extra towels and water etc. which was delivered to us). We just left our bin and used towels outside, which were collected by house keeping. The L'Occitane Vervine hand wash was was appreciated. For my Birthday meal on the Friday we both had steak with all the usual trimmings and a decent bottle of Ca Di Ponti, before visiting a few bars!
Full English Saturday and salmon and scrambled eggs Sunday, served by Georgio who looked after us on Friday. When I thanked him for his service and updating us on how well the hotel was doing post Covid, I mentioned that it was my Birthday weekend, he disappeared and returned with a Bucks Fizz for both of us. A good way to start the day!
All in all a very enjoyable break with good attentive staff who seemed to be there most of the time we were. Apparently they are not yet up to full staffing or service but it was good to see a business prospering in these times. Well done.

We have stayed at several Hotel du Vin, and this was very much up to standard. Covid-19 restrictions mean that if you are staying several nights you have to make your own bed, and request towel changes and more tea, coffee and milk at reception. Non of this is a particular problem and the staff are very accommodating. Breakfast is very well organised, you are given a tray with cups and saucers etc. and you can ask for anything off a buffet which is then handed to you. Hot breakfast orders are taken at your table and come quickly. Our room was the Louis Jadot which is well appointed, with a great bathroom. The bedroom carpet did look a bit tired. The bar is spacious and you can always find a quiet corner. Overall the staff are very friendly and do their best.
It's a good place to stay and very centrally placed.

Wow! This boutique hotel in the Lanes is amazing. From the moment you check in and are shown to your room to the moment you check out the staff here really want to look after you.
We were in a room just outside of the main building which was perfect...our own front door! There is a wonderful bar, bistro and restaurant. Breakfast was fantastic. Cooked to order and buffet, ( everything wrapped and individual to prevent germs spreading).
The bed was a bit soft for our liking but still managed a decent sleep.
Location perfect for sea front walk, wandering the Lanes or shopping in town.
We would definitely stay again and would not hesitate in recommending a stay here.

It was one of the best weddings I have been to in a long time. We were given a great layout so we could be distant but the room was so nice I felt it was all inclusive .
Nick & George and their colleges were exemplary nothing was too much, given the distancing difficulties everything went like clockwork .
The tables had place cards with our meals on the so the waiters knew who was having what dish.
The food all arrived in good time and the meal I had was excellent.
I had a blue cheese and walnut salad starter that was delicious.

I delivered the wedding cake in the morning and when I arrived it had been placed on a table and beautifully dressed.

The hotel has a one way system that works pretty well There were plenty of sanitation points.
The staff we receptive to my elderly mother and her walker, ensuring she was able to move around without difficulty.
It was a really great afternoon with a lot of thought put into its execution.

me and the Mrs had a lovely anniversary meal here. The food here was a suprise to us, felt very fresh and brilliant value for money.

Our server George was also fantastic, never more than a stone's throw away, he always kept our wine glasses full, just the way we like it.

The covid guidelines were also really well handled here, very clear guidelines and felt very safe. We were worried to come out as some of our local pubs social distancing measures have been laughable. So was a very welcomed suprise.

All in all a fantastic way to celebrate our anniversary

We stayed here as part of our wedding anniversary celebrations. I had informed the hotel and was a little disappointed that there was no acknowledgement of our celebration.
We had reserved Suite with Sea View ( that’s a pretty tenuous description as it is a half side view of the sea) . The room promotes itself on the fact that it has twin facing free standing baths. Well yes it may have but it fails on three points
1. The baths are too low to be able to see anything but sky.
2. The curtains are way too heavy to keep out of the way.
3. The windows are so filthy you can’t see through them anyway.
So disappointing
The room was ok. Warm, lovely towels, drink facilities, safe, ironing board and robes and slippers. Nothing less than I would expect for a 4* hotel.
Toiletries were ok but one in the bathroom was empty! Really ? were they running down stock for lockdown! Careless bad housekeeping. There was some nasty lime marking around the basin - just not what I expect. Premier Inns are cleaner!
We had a drink in the evening before dinner and the barman was quite curt ( don’t care how busy you are don’t take it out in the customer)?
Breakfast - Mmmm??
I understand times are difficult just now but the way things are operating is how it has been for the last 4 months so it should be running like clockwork. It isn’t. It is seriously NOT acceptable to bring out toast before porridge (and it was soggy and cold). My full English was uninspiring the only saving grace was the poached eggs were runny. I had to ask for more toast ( it still wasn’t hot!)
The whole experience was very disjointed.
I understand fully what uncertain times we are in but when I pay £143 for a room with amenities that were not as remarkable as they were billed ( don’t even have USB points) and a breakfast that certainly wasn’t worth £18 per person I walk away thinking I won’t be back. It’s only saving grace for me that might tempt me back would be the fact that it accepts dogs.

Fantastic location!
Really enjoyed our weekend stay at this hotel. Definitely priced right, our room (Belle Epoque) was a nice size with a lovely big bathroom which included l'occitane shampoo, conditioner & shower gel at the bath (huge roll top bath) and the shower then hand soap & hand cream at the basin.
We didn’t book breakfast as there are so many cafe’s and restaurants so close (would recommend the breakfast club in the lanes).
This hotel has everything, highly recommend!

Stayed here for one night during the bank holiday weekend. We have stayed in Hotel du Vin chains before and they have been all excellent. This one was no different.

Our room was very spacious with a large comfortable bed, mini fridge (which was empty due to Covid so we just filled it with out own drinks) and tea and coffee making facilities including Nespresso machine. The bathroom had a walk in shower and free standing bath.

We also had dinner at the hotel. Really good food and service.

We parked at the nearby NCP car park on Russell Road as the hotel provides a 20% off discounted voucher.

We had a very relaxing stay. Highly recommended. We look forward to returning.

The location of this hotel is excellent and the service from the staff can not be faulted particularly the gentleman at breakfast that seemed to be running the entire restaurant single handed whilst still giving a 5 star service. We were also impressed with how the COVID 19 restrictions were being managed helping us feel very safe. Our only disappointment was our room. I am sure the room was beautiful when it was new but it did feel very tired. The carpet was frayed, furniture scratched, bathroom tiles broken and the shower although powerful leaked all over the floor every morning. Such a shame in what was otherwise a lovely hotel.
