We booked to stay here for 3 nights as our son was having surgery at the nearby Nuffield clinic. As there was going to be 4 of us for the majority of the stay, we booked the family room. The staff were extremely welcoming even though they were quite busy and we'd arrived fairly late. The room was spotless and...

My husband and me stayed the Saturday 15th April. Its called Downs Hotel but is just a pub guesthouse. We paid extra for a four poster bed only to be disappointed, the bed was to high and the wooden base hurt your legs when trying to clime off, the mattress was rock hard, same with the pillows so uncomfortable, there...

It is however very basic, bed was comfy and surprisingly quiet over night even though this is on a very busy road junction. The...

Arrived in the dark at 8.40 got a warm welcome and kitchen staff kindly agreed to make us all dinners while we were shown our rooms. Enjoyed a substantial meal all cooked to order. Really nice coleslaw and lasagne with garlic ciabatta. Rooms spacious and clean. Fabulous breakfast beautifully cooked and presented. We chose this hotel because it is 7...

Firstly, don’t be fooled; in my opinion this is less a hotel, more a pub with accommodation, and to be fair, this is how it is described on the website. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful, and the food is of a high standard. The accommodation, however, leaves much to be desired. We had a twin room, which turned...

Large group called in after the Brighton Half marathon for Sunday lunch. Staff very friendly and service excellent and good value for money. Another bonus they were dog friendly as long as you sit in a certain area. Really enjoyed our visit and the selection of ales was good as well.
