Lovely old fashioned 'proper' hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good food served in the conservatory overlooking sea for our evening meal - breakfast was well served by pleasant staff and was plentiful. Amazing value for money overall.

This is a good old-fashioned (in the best sense) Grand Hotel, in a lovely position, overlooking Swanage Bay. A comfortable house with grand views (pay the little extra for a room with sea views), and with friendly, always helpful staff. We found the cuisine - both in the formal dining room, and in the less formal conservatory - of excellent...

I bought my 80yr old father and his partner through groupon a 2 night stay which was awful. The advert suggested dinner was included but this was not the case according to management. The room was small with no heating, corridors, restaurant, lounge were cold. No heaters were offered to keep the elderly folk warm. Management were not bothered about...

Very nice room (203) with large picture window looking over the Bay to Swanage . The sound of the sea lapping below . An extra cost for sea view but worth it . 203 has a bath in the ensuite .Hot water was quick to arrive and the shower worked perfectly . the Hotel no longer charges for towels in...

Booked this through a deal in the Waitrose magazine 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast.Decided to arrive a day earlier which the hotel was able to accommodate together with an extra room for family members including a toddler. The hotel decor is a little dated but very clean and welcoming. We had sea view rooms with a fabulous view of...

We come to Swanage for the Blues Festival every year, and have never stayed at one of the venues before, in case it was too noisy - well, we needn't have worried. Our room was clean and comfortable, if a little tired, and totally soundproofed from the music in the reception area. The breakfasts are amazing - the Breakfast Award...

Having just read a really 'poor' review for the Sunday Carvery, I feel compelled to challenge this. Seven of us sat down to lunch and what a thoroughly enjoyable experience it was. Service was excellent, quality of the food was excellent with such a wide choice of vegetables that you could not go hungry. The final bill was surprisingly reasonable...

The atmosphere was lovely, full of people having a good time. The Carvery was excellent, plenty of choice, beautifully cooked and presented and excellent value for money. Service professional - well done everyone. Afterwards we were able to listen to the finale of the Blues Festival which was the icing on the cake. We will be back!

Pleasant enough stay. The hotel was a little dated, (the clues in the name!) but overall it was comfortable, and held a certain charm. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient.A credit to the hotel. The evening meal was well cooked and tasty, although the menu was a bit restricted, possibly because we were on a Travelzoo deal. Breakfast was...

I had a short stay back in July 2015. The hotel was booked on line, just as a place to stay whilst visiting family in the area. The decor was not cutting edge - but the that was part of the charm. This is a place that embraces and offers great service without making any sort of fuss. The completed...
