I've reviewed this place before giving it 3 stars but the last visit was marred by underhand upselling. After I'd ordered some burgers the server asked if I wanted onion rings to which I said yes why not. I probably should have thought they would cost extra but didn't think about it. However what we each got was 2 onion...

Rooms were nice with great views of the sea but the food in the restaurant and in the breakfast room was very poor. Dirty cups and cutlery is a sign that the staff really don't care much for cleaning.

Got upgraded to a seaview double aspect room no. 12 on 2nd floor. Room was fine but sink in room which we dont like, when next door used sink we heard loud gurgling. Hot water pipes in the room make it very warm we had to have windows open all the time. Bathroom only had shower as I am only...

We ate here two weeks ago after being recommended it by a guest at the B&B we were staying at. My husband had the fish and chips which he found to be quite average, beer battered fish did not live up to the hype on the menu. There was only 2 choices for vegetarians ( had to tell the waitress...

Was lomos14 even at the same hotel! We have stayed here before and my favourite thing is the breakfast, which is amazing!!! M kids were present when I made the booking and they laughed when I said I was looking forward to breakfast already. The whole place has been smartened up and the very noisy rooms closed off (some kind...

We came for lunch and had to wait over 50 mins for 2 sandwiches and a portion of chips. Then found a hair in my coleslaw. Not impressed at all. Lovely location for a few drinks as have been here a few times before. Do not recommend for eating

We have stayed at Old English Inns before and found them to be perfectly acceptable, but this one lets the group down badly. It sort of starts off poorly when, on arrival, you notice that several letters from the word "Commodore" above the door have clearly been missing for some time. It gives the impression that the place is not...

The accommodation was fine with a reasonably sized room and very well appointed en suite though there was no drawer space at all. The lift was amazing, it said max 4 people but we could not get the 2 of us in with our 2 small cases!! and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't! However my main beef was...

We had a lovely, peaceful stay last week. Excellent refurbished room overlooking the sea, spotlessly clean, very comfortable large bed and beautiful bathroom- all for a very reasonable cost. The included breakfast was very good indeed. The staff were very helpful too. Our only observation was that the hotel seemed very short staffed, they seemed to have to work very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commodore Hotel Southbourne near Bournemouth is on the Dorset cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk with easy access from the A31 and A338. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. The Commodores location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town centre, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. A very popular holiday location. There is limited car parking provided by the hotel but ample on-street car parking within a few minutes walk. ... more   less
