This is a fairly modern house about 10 minutes' walk from Totnes High Street. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and made sure we were enjoying our stay. We were there in a very hot summer period and our room was delightfully cool, with our own front door, attractively designed inside with all the facilities we wanted. A highlight was the patio and garden behind, where we were able to eat breakfast each day. If the weather was cooler, breakfast would be in the conservatory overlooking the patio. Everything was cooked just as we wanted it, nothing too much trouble. On site parking.
John and Sandra were exceptionally gracious hosts who made us feel so welcome with a sumptuous breakfast and helpful local advice. To add to this, John provided a walking stick fashioned from local wood for me to use on our local walks! The room we had was also very convenient in that we did not have to lug our luggage up stairs.
Fantastic B&B . BEAUTIFUL ROOM Friendly owners really went the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Amazing breakfast and a piece of cake waiting for me when I got back from the race Can't recommend another
John and Sandra are the nicest couple,so friendly and welcoming, room is spotlessly clean, had a bath with bubbles provided, breakfast done to order served by them both, highly recommend a stay here, nothing is too much trouble for them, such lovely accommodating hosts
I can’t recommend this fabulous B&B enough. We were greeted with the warmest of welcomes by John and shown to our room which was immaculate. John gave us some tips for getting a bite to eat that evening and, we had a fantastic meal out. The bed was amazing and we had the best sleep ever. We went to breakfast the next day and was greeted by the lovely Sandra who couldn’t do enough for you and, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast which appeared to be endless and more than enough to keep you going for the day. John and Sandra were so good with our daughter and took great interest in talking to her. My daughter thought the place was fabulous and still mentions how lovely John and Sandra were. John went above and beyond to help us out and, even ended up giving us a lift so that our daughter could visit the otter sanctuary for the feeding times. Such a gem of a place and I would highly recommend a stay if you are looking for somewhere in Totnes. 😁…

Our room was extremely comfortable, clean and modern with a big spacious bed. We brought along our dog who was catered for by allowing him to join us for breakfast including outside on the terrace. The breakfast was superb and very filling with a wide range of choices and very well cooked and presented. Finally our hosts John and Sandra were extremely warm, kind, welcoming and helpful with recommendations for the local area. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return should we be in the local area again.
Having stayed hear regularly whilst visiting my extended family, I have enjoyed every one of my stays, the rooms are spotless, the garden is divine and the breakfast choices are awesome. John and Sandra obviously work very hard to make every guests stay enjoyable, a fact agreed with those I was fortunate enough to chat to whilst we shared breakfast. Despite the issues of Covid, the extra lengths they have gone to ensuring guests safety cannot be faulted. A very short walk to Totnes town centre to enjoy this bohemian oasis of quirkyness, it is such a joy that apart from visiting family I would return again and again just to enjoy the ambiance, and definately would continue to stay at this B&B.
I had booked 2 nights first night in single room downstairs, smelt musty and smelly and very dark no room to swing a cat and windows looked out on dark dingy walls. The second night noisy plumbing, the room stunk to high heaven from the previous occupants. I think the same sheets and duvet had been used as there was no top sheet between the duvet and the bottom sheet. Opened windows and noisy traffic as well as noise from the downstairs occupants, could hear everything and loud TV. Plumbing noisy and only allowed a shower up t 9.30 a.m. Breakfast at 8 am or 9 a.m. no choice told what time and where to sit like being a school. The worst was yet to come not only trying to recover from trying to sleep with the smell of the room I slept on top of the duvet. But I asked the landlady to look after my case whilst I went out for the day then to catch my train on my return. I asked to use the toilet and told No we dont have a toilet for you to use they are all in the rooms and they have been cleaned. Yet I saw the key to the room I had used in the door so no-one was in there and it would have taken two minutes to clean toilet bowl and sink with a bit of flash. I am a pensioner and needed to go. I would not recommend staying with these people it was the worst experience ever and definitely not worth £92 for the smell dingeyness and meaness. What is wrong with people when you dont allow someone to use the toilet when they need it and paid for the privilege of giving them money for 2 nights,…
We stayed for 5 nights in Room 7 on the ground floor with our own front door. The room was well furnished with a kingsized bed and a good powerful shower Great choice of breakfast ,I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and i was well catered for without being made to feel a nuisance. Its a 10 min walk to town and about the same to Totnes station. There's free parking right outside in their own car park. We ate in Rumours ,William the 4th and Cafe Mumbai ,all good. Loads of real ale in town ; We drank in the Bayhorse ,The Beer Vault ,The Albert and best of all the Watermans. I highly recommend The Great Grubb.
