A Gem of a place! We had a fab time here, very easy walk into totnes and a really lovely pub on the river dart, gets very busy when the sun is shining outside The room was comfortable and clean, nice touch with tea coffee and water and biscuits and he had a really nice meal in the Restaurant but I would advise to book. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend to anyone who would totnes.
We stayed for two nights in August and on the whole were really pleased and would stay again. The positives : The pub is located right on the river and the terrace is a lovely spot to have a drink. The staff are very friendly and helpful, really welcoming. The bedroom was top notch- we had a ‘superior double’ and thought it was really well designed. The bed was huge and really comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and spotless. The not so positives : parking is very limited - there are only about 8 spaces for the whole pub so if you arrive at a busy time you may have to park in the pay and display and then come back later. Breakfast was very poor and not at all in keeping with the standard of the room. No continental breakfast offered, only a cooked breakfast and the ingredients were pretty basic.…
We sat in the garden by the river, ordered food ( starters as dining out later on) absolutely delicious, Crab toast, whitebait, halloumi fries & drinks, prices very reasonable & staff really helpful. Highly recommended
Spent 2 nights here in June. Great, quirky hotel with comfortable en-suite rooms. Good selection of drinks and an excellent restaurant with great views of the river. A note of caution. All rooms are up some fairly steep stairs so mobility may be an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and would go again.
The food is excellent. We eat here quite a lot and have never been disappointed. Good quality and decent size portions. I don't think my wife has ever been able to finish hers yet. However, what keeps us coming back is the friendliness of the staff. Always happy and nothing is too much trouble. Keep it going guys, we'll be back.
Booked for a table for three in the conservatory overlooking the river and we were delighted with the customer service, quality of the food and alcoholic drink albeit a glass of wine at circa £7 seems extortionate but the norm now. Overall bill was very reasonable. The desserts were delicious.
A few of our members stayed here and we had our meal there on the Friday evening The staff were friendly and welcoming there was over 40 of us and all our meals were served together for the couples who stayed there the rooms were perfect clean decorated perfect the breakfast was scrumptious we would certainly return
We have stayed at the Steam Packet a couple of times previously and everything has been excellent. Our recent stay was in room 4 and the bed area is far to small to be comfortable. One side of the bed has a very small gap to get out and the other side has no gap at all meaning you have to scramble down the bed to get out - totally impractical. Mentioned to a member of staff and he just shrugged his head Should be a single room Food and food staff were excellent as always
We were staying in Dartmouth and our travels took us to Totnes where we followed some signs for the Steam Packet Inn - absolutely lovely place to eat, the service was second to none, and the food was fab! Just what we needed after a long day, would definitely recommend.
I arrived at the inn expected the quality to be at a high as the outside was presented very well. The drinks service was good, but when it came to the food my friends steak was asked to be medium rare but was well done. they then forgot about three of the burgers, one of which was mine, meaning whilst my friends had finished I still didn’t have dinner. Once it came, the burger was average, and I could only finish half of it as it was as dry as anything. The only positive thought is that there was a handsome discount at the end of the meal because of. Don’t recommend this unless you are asking for food that is not cooked to personal preference.
