I've been thinking about how to review this so very tired hotel for some time!! Desperately needs a cash injection to upgrade every where! The indoor tennis courts damp and look awfully sad! The bedrooms and bathrooms have not been changed for years! Still the same bed bases!! The staff however work very hard to keep the place happy, which...

This ex bishops palace is like the curates egg, good and bad in places. The faded exterior could do with a lick of paint and the rooms whilst clean and tidy have a tired and dated look. The heating system needs some major updating. The staff in the dining room,on the other hand, are very smart, polite andserve meals in a very professional manner.Full...

Just returned from a short break at the Palace, which both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. Yes as others have said the hotel itself could fairly be described as 'a little tired', but the excellence and professionalism of the staff more than compensated for any shortcomings in that department....and some! Far too many hotels these days leave guests feeling...

I have attended functions here in the past and been impressed, not so impressed when I entered my room! We had 4 rooms booked for a family event, all the rooms were very dated, to a poor standard and completely worn out. Such a shame as it could be lovely. The staff were very good apart from bar staff who...

My rating of 3/5 reflects that I only paid £55 for B&B but if I had paid the more standard rates the rating would have been lower. The rooms are very tired and in need of ripping out and refurbishing. The bedding was very old and felt like I was in a retirement home. For some people I can imagine...

Staff were lovely, but so disappointed with the room even though the receptionist kindly changed it from the most awful room I have ever seen. very misleading to call it a 4 star, do not understand how they can get away with it!!

I returned to the Palace after a long break. I had had many excellent holidays there in the past, I had a slight worry because of a number of negative reviews. I need not have worried. The provides the facilities that so many modern hotels do not. I list Gardens in which to stroll Golf and putting greens A sun...

We booked a family room for 2 adults and one child. The room we were initially givens was the worst hotel room I have ever been in.! It was 2 rooms, with one main door with the 2 off a small hall with a second tiny shower and toilet the door of which did not fully open. The other room...

We booked two nights stay in March through Booking.com but as with a previous reviewr, it is a false economy as the room were were shown, was small, overlooked extractor fans, dirty, broken TV and remote......supposedly over 50% discount. The reception staff were good and managed to find us a twin room. The room was large but dated furniture and...

Went with a large group of friends and had a great time. Food was great (they can't cook a steak though!) Wine a bit on the expensive side. Rooms very old fashioned but clean and tidy. Swimming pool was quiet but freezing cold!
