Downstairs and breakfast was lovely, however the bedroom I was in was very out of date. The carpet was threadbare and the wallpaper was coming off the walls in places. A burnt iron mark on the bed and the worst part was seeing a greasy head mark on the headrest. The mattress was very hard and also lumpy. Although the...

We love The Palace & try to go every year, this time for a visit with friends to celebrate my husband's 60th & it didn't disappoint. We always find the staff delightful & incredibly helpful with a special mention to Elliott. Within a few minutes of arriving the calm & peaceful atmosphere helped us to relax but not for too...

The staff are excellent! They are the best part of the hotel! The food is very good, but the hotel needs a facelift! The bathroom to my room was badly painted and the shower was inept with a trickle of water! The swimming pool needs refurbishment, it is also dirty! The showers at the pool look like a health risk,...

Don't expect porterage. Reception staff friendly and very efficient. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the indoor pool. Fittings are dated but perfectly functional. Everything was clean. One power socket. Very warm at night even with the radiator turned off and the window open - the rest of our coach party said the same thing. Food was...

I was visiting friends who had gone to Torquay for a holiday and as I live in Dorset, I decided to find a two night accommodation at a reasonable price. I was amazed that this hotel came up as I have often wanted to stay there having visited Torquay regularly for very many years. At £40 per night ( I...

This hotel is anything but a palace. When we arrived we had high hopes, but it went downhill from there. The check-in was smooth and friendly (we didn't arrive until 8.15pm), we were tired and hungry and aware that the restaurant took last orders at 9pm so we asked reception to book us in for dinner at 8.30 whilst we...

So.. we did try it again, this time with our daughter who lives in NY and experiences the quality of American hotels. She was very impressed with the entire hotel - the food, the friendliness of the staff and the facilities available within the cost of the 3-night break. She was particularly vocal of the depth of the bath in...

The Palace is getting on in years but still provides an ambience from a bygone era. The food served is first class and the service excellent, the accommodation is clean and the grounds majestic. The out of season offers make it better value than staying at home.

Took up their 3 night dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Food was superb and the staff very friendly. Rooms could do with a bit of TLC. Would recommend paying the extra £10 for a garden view room (away from the kitchen).
