Sensitively decorated in a contemporary Victorian chic style, the ideals of comfort and relaxation are a priority here. A hotel for all seasons, The Grand is ideal for outdoor or indoor pleasure pursuits: long walks along the promenade; reading by the fire in the cosy library; taking in the panoramic views from the comfortable casual lounge & Brasserie or soaking up the warmth of Torquay’s healthy microclimate on the extensive sheltered terrace. Relaxation is a priority in the thoughtfully equipped individually styled bedrooms and opulent themed suites, many of which offer entrancing views of the sheltered bay. While year-round leisure facilities are on hand in the gym, heated swimming pools, Jacuzzi, sauna and treatment rooms for some essential extra spa pampering and make for a memorable stay.

This hotel is vile. It doesn't deserve no more than a 3 star and even that at a push. Its so dated and stinks. Our room was VILE. The Hampton by hilton is much nicer. Newer, modern, clean. May not have a pool but if u saw the state of the pool...it wouldn't bother you. The carpets stink, the rooms are so dated and smelly. Seriously I have no idea why people rave about it

We came over from Brixham for a lovely cream tea as a birthday present, The cream tea was one of the best we have had, and the service received by a lovely lady named "Ania" was impeccable. The highest standards of hospitalilty was given to us in this restaurant by this young women. 5*

Stayed last year and was far nicer. Very dated and tired looking. Room only cleaned 1 in 3 days. On arrival has FYI go to reception as balcony had not been cleaned in weeks! £1100 for 3 nights!!! Staff nice enough but don’t seem to be able to rectify issues.

Went for a night away at the Grand, we’ve not been for a year or two but have been regular customers for a long time. We were so disappointed that the service and standards have completely dropped as this is what made the Grand so good and bought us back again and again. I understand that they have had a shortage of staff through the pandemic however the basic customer service (smiles/friendliness/professionalism) is just not there anymore, perhaps some training is required. We had a meal which most of us enjoyed, although it was more like pub grub (fish & chips, burger & chips) rather than fine dining as it always used to be. With the service, the menu and the fact there were no tablecloths the place was made to feel more casual and like anywhere else, not like the luxury experience we’ve previously had here. My partner had the falafels for main, and told the waiter they were inedible, they were like hard rubber balls. He agreed and said yes other people have said this too, sorry. No goodwill gesture or nothing which is awful customer service. I think the worst of all was the redecorating they have done which is appalling- I hope they can get a refund from their interior designer!! It’s bright, gaudy, clashing colours trying to be modern/ trendy which has just ruined the classy, period building that the Grand is, so very disappointed about that. I feel awful for writing this but it needs to be said to help restore the Grand to it’s former glory :(

Stayed for 3 nights @ best part of £1000 , the hotel we stayed at in Marlborough the night before our arrival @ £77 was by far superior. Room was shabby and dated, if you are over 5ft 7 you wouldn’t be able to stand up which is over the ancient stained bath. Only received room cleaned once over the 3 nights !! Cold tap didn’t work, dirty carpet and this was a delux sea view room. Downstairs pool was crowded with kids and NONE of the spa facilities were working!! The only positive were the lovely staff, especially the guys on the bar. I’m thinking all the good reviews are posted by the owners friends and family. It’s one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in, don’t waste your money.
