Not very impressive. Pokey, not v clean. Blown lightbulb in bedside light. Empty soap dispenser in shared bathroom. Stale smoke smell. Mattress springs made themselves known. Friendly staff though.

I found the Web Site to be much better than reality. While the bedroom was clean and tidy and had everything that was promised,it was very basic. The breakfast was,as stated, a full English, although a little small compared to other places that we have stayed in. One big disappointment was the dinning room, it was rather cold and uncomfortable,... More

My partner and I have recently stayed in this guest house and have to say that it has got to be the worst place we have ever stayed. As soon as you walk in through the front door there is a pungent smell of cigarette smoke. It is a non-smoking guest house, however, it is not the guests that you... More

I fully reccomend this guest house, perfect location close to the Hoe and town centre. I traveled by car and parking was available directly outside the premises for a £2 charge. The rooms are basic but very good value, quiet and with plenty of free tea/coffee, clean towels and bedding etc. I was attending HMS Raleigh for my sons Passing... More

Welcome to my review for the 'Avalon Guest House' everybody. I wanted to stay in Plymouth for five days during July 2011 primarily to visit a transport rally taking place on Plymouth Hoe on Sunday the 24th,and afterwards to enjoy a few days exploration of the city and its surrounds,as I've not visited Plymouth for many years now. I travel... More

I have to say we booked only purly because it was the one b&b which we could stay in one room as 4 adults ( at the time when we were looking for any accommodation in Plymouth). We did enjoy it but dont expect much to go there. It s a bit old fashioned and damp place however it s... More

Very dissapointed. Booked this after our previous excellent B&B has shut down. Was taking our daughter back to university after her Easter break. Thought we would stay a couple of nights and enjoy the jazz. The location was great, but not impressed. The entrance smelt of smoke, despite being a non smoking establishment. The room was very cramped, only one... More

Before I booked this guesthouse I read some reviews some were good some were bad, I am sorry to say that I was disapointed with the general standard of the place. We arrived a little late and were made made welcome. Our room was small and dated electric sockets had been removed and a hole left in the wall. As I... More

I stayed with my son when attending an interview. The room hadn't been cleaned, we had one 'clean' towel between us. The others, all wet, were drapped over a chair and in the bathroom. Normally I would complain but my son didn't need further stress and therefore I stayed quiet. The staff were friendly and I would like to think... More
