We stayed one night whilst walking the SW Coast path. The hotel is ideally situated overlooking the river and sea (great views from room 1) and we were warmly welcomed. We decided to eat elsewhere as there was no one else in the dining room which was presumably why the chef/owner was very chatty on our return. Our room was...

The room we stayed in (no.1) was very nice. Unfortunately the common areas let the hotel down as they were scruffy and definite need sprucing up. The breakfast was good, but the unhoovered carpet in the restaurant put us off a bit. Such a shame. The location was wonderful. The hotel could be a little gem with a bit more...

We stayed in the best room at this place (Room 4) its a bit dated. At £104.00 per night it could be much better. It over looks the harbour and the sea which is quite pleasant. Do not have dinner in the hotel restaurant, we did and 50% of the menu was off. We talked to another couple who had...

My partner and I have visited this restaurant quite a few times over the years, when touring the West Country. Things have gone really down hill. Our last visit for lunch on a sunny day this April, we were faced dirty uncleared tables in the garden, being an obvious target for marauding sea gulls!! The grass was untidy, bins and...

Nice location that's all. Would we stay again? No not if it was a freebie! Poor parking, only dined once that was enough, Resident dog, although a very nice animal, took up residence on the setee in bar area. We had a four poster bed which was uncomfortable, place in need of good overall

I regret that I cannot recommend this hotel as a place to stay. Although the hotel building has a dramatic location the first thing we saw when we entered the interior was the Reception area which was a shambles with books and papers everywhere. The whole place is in desperate need of refurbishment and we felt uncomfortable with the surroundings...

My wife booked a surprise weekend away to celebrate my big O birthday and decided upon The Rock House The Rock is ideally situated . The room was good clean and had all of the amenities. It only has about 8 rooms. The bathroom was 'bijou' the outlook out over The Bristol Channel was good. We decided on night 1...

Fish was awful. Better off with just about anywhere else in Lynmouth or Lynton as regards food quality. It's such a pity as it is a beautifully situated restaurant ... best or second best location deserves better cooking!!!

There are so many things about this place that SHOULD be great. The positives. The location is a gem for a start. The rest. There was dog mess around the gardens. The outdoor chairs were falling apart. The service was chaotic and disorganized. The staff were bordering on incompetent - struggling to cope with very manageable bank holiday visitors. Poor...

After overhearing the people on the next table receive an apology for the long wait for their food and then have to ask for some cutlery, we decided to keep it simple by having sandwiches. They had a choice of cheese and tomato, ham and tomato, ham and mustard or ham and cheese. Nothing complicated, what could possibly go wrong?...
