We have stayed here many times over the years and it’s always been to the same high standard. Recently we have stayed three times in as many months the staff have made it Covid safe without dropping any standards. Lovely staff and excellent food.
We've just had a really lovely two day stay at the Rising Sun. Very friendly and cosy atmosphere, lovely very clean room and really amazing food. In fact some of the best dishes I've had for a very long time. Would definitely recommend stopping for a meal even if you don't stay the night.
Arrived day after lockdown greeted warmly explained covid rules offered sanitiser and showed to our lovely toom looking over the harbour very spacious spotlessly clean a lovely bathroom and tea / coffee and good size TV. Went for a walk around harbour and Lynmouth very picturesque. Nothing else really open so looked forward to what we were advised was excellent food - we booked in to the restaurant with our dog (very very dog friendly). the menu was impressive considering it was the first day of opening a great selection of fish / meat and sides the food was great seriously restaurant quality - Order breakfast night before was like a banquet wife had poached haddock and I had full English also cereal fresh fruit and fresh coffee we will definitely re-visit as soon as we can thank you for a great break and lovely owners & staff.…
My wife and I had three very enjoyable days here. The Rising Sun manages to remain an atmospheric country inn that has moved into the 21st century. We had a very nice comfortable modernised bedroom (OK, it was a bit small but they didn't make them big in the 14th century). Atmospheric bar with plenty of locals having a drink - great. Nice dining room with very good food. Great breakfast. If I have one negative comment it is this: we stayed three nights and whereas the food was very good, we could really have done with some daily specials - having to choose from the same menu three nights in a row was disappointing. Each evening we had different very tasty amuses bouches before dinner which could easily have been turned into full courses.
Lovely room with great views, especially watching the surfers. Absolutely fantastic food. Excellent service. We came more for the location, which is stunning, and the hotel is everything you would hope for from a 14th century Inn. But the surprise was the absolutely top notch food. Service was excellent as well as their Covid protocol.
