Shooed off by a rude non uniformed man while we sat on the pretty wall outside with our fish and chips in the sunshine. They lost our custom for a party of 7 for dinner! I can see there are multiple other reviews for rude staff..

We were under the impression that reviews on this site were with regard to service and food offered by the premises, non of which you experianced when you felt it was acceptable to sit outside our property, eating food from another establishment, and whilst we understand that you might have been upset at being asked to leave our incredibly beautiful...

A cold and windy March evening was consoled by a stay here (one night; not really enough). Lynmouth is always atmospheric and the Rising Sun adds to that atmosphere; small and boutique with pleasant service and a wonderful cosy bar. Our room was lovely, a good size, over looking the sea from a low window (floor height) and with a...

We were not staying at the Rising Sun, we went in for an evening bar meal. We were informed the bar menus were on the end of the bar. As we were by the sea we wanted fish & chips. We ordered a large glass of house white (sauvignon blanc) and a medium glass of house shiraz. Unfortunately there wasn't...

We returned after 5 years to find the Rising Sun is even better than before. The bedrooms have been refurbished and the bathrooms are now excellent. Great friendly service and superb food. Dogs very welcome in the bar, so we ate our meals there. We will definitely be back, thank you to everyone who looked after us.

My partner and i booked a 3 night break as having stayed at other hotels in Lynmouth he had always wanted to stay at the Rising Sun. We were not disappointed !! A warm welcome a lovely sea view room which smelt fresh and was immaculately clean awaited us. This was then followed by a delicious candlelit meal in the...

We visited the Rising Sun the night before our meal and decided the menu looked so good that we would book a table for the following night as it was Debs birthday. On arrival, the barman remembered and wished her a Happy Birthday, which was a good start and showed an attention to detail which carried on. We were seated...

To receive a review like yours is always very much appreciated. Our chefs work hard on there menus, they cook to order, using fresh food and where possible locally sourced produce and this is reflected in the quality of the food we serve, so your comments were very much appreciated by them.We would like to thank you very much for...

Be sure you know what to expect. We were if room 4, which I think is the smallest. Part of the charm of the Rising Sun is how old and characterful it is, that means ... no room for a shower, no where to sit in the room, a sloping floor and hence bed, which feels very odd and no...

As we are sure most of our customers realise that we are a 14th Century Inn which offers a wealth of character, inside and out, from thatched roofs to sloping floors, narrow staircases and beams, all of which we think adds to the charm of this beautiful old building that we are very proud of and on to which we...

Booked for a one night stay during a wet and blustery week just for a change of scenery. Hotel looked good on the website and food there sounded great. It did not disappoint. After booking our stay, a couple of days later we received a phone call from reception stating the room was being up-graded free of charge to one...

Nestled into the hillside we have both coastal and countryside views on our doorstep and a wealth of character within, from sloping floors, narrow staircases, beams and fireplaces to name a few as you yourselves experianced. The fantastic comments made about your room, the staff and food have been passed on and were much appreciated by all. We thank you...
