We called in here for a drink, after being on a long walk. The cider was fine, but you felt a little bit like you were gate crashing. The pub seemed to be more about dogs than people! We returned the next evening to sample the food. The food was great, but the place smelt of stuffy dog and dog...

I have eaten in every restaurant and pub in Lynmouth and Lynton including the rising sun, the bath hotel, the blue ball inn and the beggars roost and many more and we always return to the village inn. If you are like me and want genuinely home cooked food that is not only excellent value for money but is also...

Excellent value for money, fabulous food and exemplary customer service. Accommodated my two Boxer dogs and were very flexible and helpful in a difficult situation. Would thoroughly recommend this inn.

After a walk up to Watersmeet on a drizzly day, a warm welcoming pub with friendly barman was just what we needed. Large portions and quick service. Barman even lit the log burner for us. Walking boots and soggy dogs welcomed. I had the muddy boots and will definitely take my dogs next time !

Popped in to this pub durring a day walk with our springer spaniel Tilley. The sign outside stated muddy boots and soggy dogies welcome and WE WERE! I dont think I have ever felt so relaxed in a pub before with my dog. The ownner also had two spaniels so this is definatly a pub for dog lovers. The snack...

Very rarely one have true reasons to highly rate pub food, but the food served in this place is simply superb! We had fish and chips, steak pie and our little one had meatballs, all are delicious! Service is great too! Definitely a place for a hearty meal and some good drinks too!

What a disappointment ! Very run down. Extremely dirty. Everywhere smelt strongly of dogs. Raw dog bone on chair in bar! Black mouldy grouting in shower.

Oh dear, we only popped in for a pint and a quick bite to eat and wished we hadn't. The place was full of locals who were very very loud, and this was lunchtime. Dogs everywhere that seemed to own the place, sitting on chairs, growling, barking. Only one of our group decided to eat and ordered a sandwich, almost...

Four of us stayed for one night and whilst the food and drink were very good (see the separate review) the accommodation left a lot to be desired. Being a dog-friendly hotel shouldn't mean that the bedrooms smell strongly of dogs - which they did ... very strongly. It would put me off staying there again which is a shame...
