We stayed two nights. The breakfasts were good, The B&B is an easy walk from the Exeter St. David's train station and an easy walk from the Cathedral. I'd be happy to stay there again. The staff was always busy, so it's not one of those places where you get to talk to the locals for half an hour.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights. I was part of a tour visiting the SW of England and booked this B&B directly based on the great TA reviews. I wasn't disappointed! I received a very friendly greeting upon arrival and was shown to a lovely double ensuite. The room was very clean and appointed with everything needed for a...

Top two things first - great service and super clean. If you've got that down, everything else hardly matters at all. But it doesn't stop there with the Townhouse:) Their breakfast room is beautifully decorated! Which I appreciate. And the breakfast is big and super tasty, with a good selection of cereal, yoghurt and berries as well as the full...

Thank you for taking time to write this review. We are pleased you liked the service, decoration and thought the breakfast was big and super tasty. We are aware some of the en-suite bathrooms are not ideal, but as we are a Grade II listed building, it makes it difficult, if not impossible, to expand the size of the bathrooms....

Beautiful historic building on the outside, done up to a clean a Nd modern finish inside. Our room had period features, which we liked. Breakfast was amazing and freshly cooked. The owner gave us a lot of info regarding restaurants, places to see (he gave us a 2 for 1 voucher to get into the Cathedral and his advice about...

Absolutely disgusted. My mum and auntie drove all the way from London to visit me at university and after having a terrible 7 hour journey breaking down on the motorway we arrived at the townhouse at 6pm who knew about the journey they had experienced. We booked a triple room and had email confirmation of this, but upon arrival the...

When the booking was made, it was clearly stated that the room was for 2 people. An email was sent confirming that the booking was for 2 people and stated " (Please check the number of people you have booked for as we will only make up beds for that amount of people.)". At no stage was there any mention...

Absolutely lovely b&b. Used to be a Vicarage so the outside very dramatic with lovely old fashioned architecture but inside all very modern and b/fully decorated and clean. I asked for a quiet bedroom at the back - twin room - which we got - with views of the garden and small churchyard. The twin room was spacious and the...

Thank you for taking time to write a review on Tripadvisor. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you liked the recommendations we made although, as you say, due to the wedding, you couldn't take advantage of them all. If you are ever back in Exeter, we will be more than happy for you to stay here.

My best friend and I stayed here whilst meeting up in Exeter. Fantastically welcoming hosts - kindly took our luggage early and put in our room. Beautiful room with quality bedlinen, fresh coffee, selection of teas. Breakfast is served in a lovely quirky room; we enjoyed fresh fruit and a steaming bowl of porridge although we could have had full...

This is a really nice place to stay- our family room for 4 had been recently renovated - it was spotlessly clean, and very nicely decorated. Breakfast was really nicely done too. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built around 1870 for the neighbouring St David's Church, the Victorian Grade II Listed Townhouse has undergone refurbishment bringing the guest house up to date with period and contemporary features. The Townhouse is set in a quiet corner of Exeter city centre yet just a few minutes stroll from the stunning Cathedral, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, the Quayside, shopping centres, pubs, restaurants, university and train station. Our nine stylish rooms range from singles to kingsize (all with the exception of one single room are en-suite) and have free wifi, flat screen LCD TVs, USB charger sockets, double glazed windows, Fair Trade teas, coffees and biscuits, crisp white bed linen, complementary toiletries, fluffy towels, hairdryer and an amazing breakfast (not our words, but those of guests who have stayed with us) included in the price of the room. An iron and ironing board is available. Resident J-zone street parking permits free of charge (1 car per room per night, additional parking permits are available at £3 per permit) or guaranteed off street parking at £5 (only two guaranteed parking spaces). If you book direct with us, there is early check ins available (from 12 noon, can be earlier if agreed). If your room is not ready, luggage can be left with us before check in. We can also look after your luggage up to 1pm after check out (£3 per item thereafter). We will also give you a box of chocolates to enjoy in your room. If you book using a 3rd party (i.e. not direct with us, but though a booking agency), check in is strictly from 3pm and we cannot look after your luggage if you arrive in Exeter before 3pm. We can look after your luggage after check out, but this will cost £3 per item. We want your stay at the Townhouse to be as comfortable and memorable as possible and we are on hand to make sure your needs are met. In saying that, we would advise that the Townhouse is a guest house and not a 24 hour service hotel and you will be a guest staying in our house. We have been awarded the 2016 Certificate of Excellence by Tripadvisor and the Food Standards Agency has awarded us 5 stars - the highest possible food hygiene rating. ... more   less
