My sister and I stayed here in April and had a great time. Room allocated was lovely despite not being a seaview. Staff warm and friendly and very obliging. We found the Restaurant Manager, Agneise (Agnes) especially accommodating and caring, making sure our *special diet* was created daily and interestingly. Top marks to the chef too. Our waitress, Lily, was...

We have been for two nights here. Lovely place. Breakfast is plentiful worth paying the extra when you book. Will stay again. To visit Falmouth take the Kings Ferry across the Fal river it's about a 15 minute drive from the hotel, it saves driving 27 miles round , but a return ticket. The Ferry runs every 20 minutes every...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights as a member of a group that stayed here for basically a walking weekend. We found the hotel was in a very good position right on the harbour. The room was OK with all of the necessary facilities but was in need of a degree of TCL as the...

On arrival the room allocated had a view of a neighboring gable end - reception were more than helpful in moving us to an empty sea view room. Ate in the Restaurant and the food was excellent. The problem started when I tried the shower in the evening and there was no water pressure at all and unfortunately it was...

Our overall experience at the Ship & Castle Hotel was brilliant! From start to finish there really was no fuss and no stress along with very helpful staff. I don't think we could fault anything. The view from the tables was fantastic and a great backdrop for the top table! The food throughout the day was excellent and the service...

FEBRUARY 2017 We spent four nights at the Ship and Castle Hotel overlooking the Sea and Harbour in St Mawes. The Hotel had a Lift and the Staff were all happy and made us feel welcome. There is a Co-op Supermarket, Pubs, a Castle and Gift shops near the Hotel. There is no parking at the Hotel. There is a...

Ship & Castle is situated on the harbour quayside in St Mawes, on the Roseland peninsula where the open sea meets the Fal and Percuil rivers. The hotel which could have been an Inn once upon a time has a bar, lounge and restaurant with picturesque views to die for. The food was traditional and modern combined with a daily...

Just returned, stayed four nights. Some reviewers complain about the decorators, some complain about the tired decor, you can't please everyone. I liked both the tired decor and the up to date improvements. The old decor was part of the charm of this hotel for me, and I am sure the owners intend to repaint it when its turn comes....

We visited the above hotel last week as part of a Shearings 5 day coach holiday. After a long journey we finally arrived . The service and organisation were excellent and we were given a sea view facing twin room(we did pay a little extra). The staff were most helpful and the food was excellent. There was a choice of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Where the Rivers' Fal and Percuil meet to join the open sea, St Mawes boasts the perfect picture postcard retreat and at the heart of the village, right on the quay you will find The Ship and Castle Hotel. Once The Ship and Castle Inn, and a warren of small fishermen's cottages (remnants of which can still be seen at the rear of the existing building) The Ship and Castle is now a 54 bedroom hotel with all the charm and character one would expect for its location. Our bar and lounges offer the perfect location for a peaceful day in St Mawes watching the world go by, or enjoying a traditional Cornish Cream Tea. We have a selection of sea view rooms which understandably are in high demand and are well recommended to make your stay that little bit more special. ... more   less
