We enjoyed our 5 night stay helped by perfect weather. The setting and sun terrace was lovely but unfortunately our accommodation was a little disappointing. We know it is expensive to upgrade but basics like kitchen appliances, pots & crockery could have been so much better. During lockdown I think some work could have been carried out on these cottages. The bathroom was very tired, musty and grubby we bought bleach to put in the toilet, sink and shower. All the windows needed a good clean and the creepers cut back from the windows.

Hotel's Favourite
We booked very last-minute but Penmorvah Manor was a real find. The hotel is old and full of character, the food was lovely and we enjoyed a G&T by the fire with the owners' friendly spaniels keeping us company. We didn't stay long, but found it a great base to explore nearby Falmouth and would definitely come back if in the area.

Stayed in a Manor room. On the positive side, the hotel is spotless, has a lovely deck for drinks with smashing views to the sea. Breakfast was perfectly fine, ingredients a little on the budget side. Garden area very nicely kept. Ample parking. On the negative side, the decor is very tired, particularly in the bathrooms, where fixtures and fittings are past their best and could do with updating. The furnishings look as if they have been captured from a house clearance after some one has died. Think granny's stuff. The place has the feel generally of a well kept old people's home. Bed was a bit uncomfortable with battered pillows. Staff friendly and professional. For £170 a night it felt pricey for what was delivered, but it is Cornwall......

Disappointing. Although this is a 3 star hotel (and should not be compared with hotels with a higher rating), I would still have expected better. If I am charitable, I would describe the interior of the hotel and bedrooms as being very tired in the main, but poor in some respects. Black mould around the sink is not acceptable and I had the impression the owners have taken their eye off the ball - so many little jobs could have been done during lockdown, but clearly not and the place had the appearance of neglect. That said, the staff and food were good. Given my criticisms about the hotel’s interior appearance, I think it is overpriced. Would a £50 a night discount make a difference? Not really, it needs a touch of TLC when it could be wonderful. The setting is enchanting.

We have just had a wonderful week self catering in the Hayloft apartment in the grounds of the Penmorvah Manor Hotel. This fabulous hotel with lovely gardens and sun terrace was delightful. All the staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your holiday complete. We ate in the hotel twice, both times the food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, the Hayloft, the apartment we stayed in was very dated, basic and shabby, but Gareth and all the staff, the lovely gardens and sun terrace made up for the accommodation. We would love to return, but not to stay in the Hayloft
