We stayed here for one night on the way to North Wales and, never having been to Chester before, loved the City. We booked late and had the last two rooms at Recorder House. The location of the hotel and the welcome from the owners were both first class. I doubt that there is a better located B&B for an...

This is the 2nd time my husband and I have stayed at the Recorder House and I highly recommend it. Fantastic location, just five minute walk to the racecourse and also the shops. Rooms are clean, comfortable and great views of the river. Host are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is delicious.

This Hotel/B+B is excellently positioned for the city of Chester. It is also good if you go by car as they have parking. The breakfasts were excellent. We stayed for 3 nights. Our room was very clean and we found the owners very welcoming.

We stayed in the Recorder House for one night (wish it were more!), in room 10. Absolutely stunning view of the river from the room. The owners were really friendly and the breakfast absolutely lovely. It was a real treat to stay somewhere with so much character. Big thumbs up!

I always stay at the Recorder when in Chester. Clean and comfortable accommodation, great breakfasts and great hospitality. The location is excellent....beside the river, and in easy walking distance of all parts of the City. Highly recommended!

Stayed in room overlooking River Dee. Wonderful view and great location right on the wall. A little hard to find if you're driving. Read previous reviews for directions. Great full breakfast served by gracious hosts. Would surely stay there again!!

If you have a car, you need to drive into Duke Street and will enter the hotel from the back. We stayed one night and were offered the 4-poster front bedroom on arrival, which has beautiful traditional furniture, in keeping with the age of the building, but has a modern shower ensuite and flat screen tv on the wall. The...

The Recorder House was the first stop on a meander through Shropshire/Herefordshire and, wíthout question, the best breakfast of them all, including those served at much more expensive hotels. Nice position, friendly and obliging hosts, a view over the river and free parking. What more could you want?

Lovely old Hotel - we recently stayed here in August 2013 and stayed in the Virgo room with river view - beautiful!! Only negative would be that it is a bit creeky (the bed) and the floorboards - but it is a very old hotel, so understandable. The owners were very nice and friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was...

Stayed here 9th-11th August and had a lovely time. The host's are really friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us at breakfast time, which was a cracking meal to start the day off which consists of fruit juice, fruit, yoghurt, cereal's, tea and coffee, toast, full English, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, etc etc . Our room was...
