Not sure where to start. I would certainly never return to this hotel. Receptionist wasnt exactly helpful on arrival. Booked a twin room with breakfast. Not a word to us about where breakfast was or what time it was served till, surely basic information to be given to guests in any hotel. She (unsure of her name) gave us our... More

Our bedroom had no heating, the radiators were only tepid and it was -2 outside. We were cold and uncomfortable. The bed was small and very uncomfortable. The carpets and curtains were dusty. At breakfast, the service was poor, no glasses or plates. We weren't offered a choice of eggs. The coffee came, but the milk didn't. The coffee cups... More

Stopped one night had no problems with this hotel. Clean tidy and quiet. Stayed in a refurbished double room without breakfast, only thing we didn't like was the lighting rather dark But beds comfy, and plenty of local places to eat and drink. About 15 minutes walk to Chester centre or 5 minutes drive to Cheshire oaks shopping centre

A very clean room 20: small single room plus en suite toilet and shower room. Wardrobe with proper coat hangers, chair, desk and TV. FREE but very slow Wi-Fi; really needed better lighting to be able to see laptop! Very cold outside but the room warmed up well when I turned the heating up. Comfortable bed. I did not dine... More

Overall, the hotel was fine . My room was clean and the breakfast was nice . I paid £60 for a family room and £12 for two breakfasts . They very kindly allowed my five year old to eat for free . It's cheap as chips . It's not the Savoy so you need to manage your expectations . It's... More

Paid 50 quid for a single room. All clean, functional and well maintained, although communal areas a little tired. Good value. Check in/out straightforward and friendly. Breakfast only 6+ quid, although I was up too late it. Would stay again.

The hotel is within 20 min walk of Chester centre and right on a bus route. The hotel itself was clean. The room was large and quiet. However there were 2 bulbs out in the centre light so lighting was not good. There was no shelving or towel rails in bathroom. The twin beds were comfortable. Breakfast was £6.50 extra... More

After changing plans for our visit to Chester we booked this hotel for just £29 for a Sunday night. The price was room only and we paid an extra £6.50 each for breakfast but everything was good value for money. The staff were all friendly and happy to help whenever we needed. Check in an out was quick and efficient.... More

We needed a place to stay for a couple of days and stumbled upon the Dene. Such a surprise. Brilliant food for breakfast with nothing too much trouble. Tried some of the bar food and that was such great value. Will stay here again next trip to Chester. even close enough to walk to town. (just about!)

The Dene Hotel is ideally situated for the town. 20mins walk or frequent bus service. Competatively priced 2 star accomodation. Plentiful parking on site. The staff were very obliging and the breakfast was adequate. Room dcor was very good and spotlessly clean
