We went for a late Mothers' Day celebration courtesy of a family member and had afternoon tea. We parked a distance away as I have a blue badge. We found access hard with stairs and cramped in the restaurant itself. There was little choice. The meal was very expensive and of mediocre standard. The only stand out item was the delicious sausage roll. The service was average and the sandwiches similar. Overall disappointing.

We were excited to arrive, having been given a gift voucher from our grandson for Christmas, 2023. Various family events had prevented us using this earlier. We qrrived a little early, and presented the voucher, which was accepted by the waitress. We were served promptly by a pleasant waitress. Tucking into our food, the waitress returned, and said, "Bad news, your voucher has expired." She said "You'll have to pay, but you can have it at the voucher price. I asked to speak to the manager, and a young lady arrived. She said "I'm sorry, but you'll have to pay." I said, I had no intention of paying, this had already been paid for. We looked online, and it said that vouchers are valid up to a year. We showed this, but still no joy. The young waitress then came back and said, " We've checked the website, and it's only valid for three months! I said, that's fine then, but she couldn't see this. Most of this fiasco was going on in front of other customers, acutely embarrassing! I reiterated the fact that this tea had been paid for, and we were not prepared to pay one penny more. We left. Nightmare!! 😡😡😡

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you encountered during your visit. It's disappointing to hear that your anticipated meal turned into such a stressful situation, especially considering it was a gift from your grandson. Unfortunately we are not held liable for your vouchers expiry as you had purchased that through a 3rd party website. Here is a link to some helpful information so this can be avoided in the future https://help.wowcher.co.uk/articles/faqs/how-we-work/63c7e40ce221e76974afe893 Thank you!

Thank you so much to the team at oddfellows everyone to the manager, the receptionist and the bar staff all so friendly and went out of there way to help me out. Can’t thank them enough for helping me out. Beautiful venue too. Receptionist offered to help me with my bags. The bar staff was talking to me, keeping me company until my partner had arrived. The manager couldn’t help me enough and was so kind and understanding. All staff was very welcoming. Will definitely be recommending

Well first impression was doesn't look to bad but then looking around the place definitely needs major changes especially in the kitchen department, the food service was fine but quality of the food was poor at best, attention to detail was non existent and when asking for basic sides like ketchup they had run out but there's a tesco extra literally 10 seconds away to get some. Looks like the place is being run by untrained staff who have no idea how customer service should be. The actual place needs alot of general maintenance which hasn't been done. Would I recommend definitely not. Great location but poor service and food made this stay one not to remember.

I was really excited to hear I was being taken to Oddfellows for afternoon tea but it really has gone downhill and it was a disappointing experience. It was in a canteen like room, very noisy, and not appealing to be in. The afternoon tea was not worth the money. We had earl grey tea in a mug on a saucer from a chipped tea pot. The staff were not friendly, just plonking things down and going. To be honest, the service was pretty bad. We did say so to the receptionist as we left and she just looked at us, didn't even ask why or anything. There are far more pleasant and enjoyable places to have an afternoon tea than Oddfellows.

I recently organised my 50th birthday celebrations at Oddfellows and the whole experience could not have been better. The venue was ideal, food excellent and the bedrooms were great - love the two baths. The staff were also so helpful both in the planning of the event and then on the evening. Nothing was any trouble and this meant that it all went very smoothly. Thanks - would definitely recommend the venue for any special occasion.

Arrived a little early, no issue, our room was ready. Obviously quirky with a name like Oddfellows, we enjoyed the layout and the secret garden is a must when the weather improves. Barman was a gent and he made me a perfect Zombie, pre dinner cocktail. Dinner was very good, pleasant service. Interesting shower arrangement, the bathroom door is the shower door and you can see inside, quite odd but as long as you're not sharing with your granny, you'll be okay.

Most awful experience. We arrived 10 mins early for out afternoon tea, which had been booked a month in advance to start at 2pm and we weren’t seated until 2.30pm. Nobody came to provide us with updates,. I had to walk up to the bar twice to ask what was happening. Finally, we were seated. The sandwiches and coffee were good but the scones were hard and cakes awful, some looked like they had been pulled off previous afternoon teas were people has not eaten them as they had bits of other food on them. We were now late for another appointment so asked for the remaining food to be bagged up. They did this, but we got home and one scone was missing. Overall very poor. Will not be going back

I booked the restaurant for my birthday with family for afternoon tea. We were seated at a bit of an awkwardly-laid out table in between the bar and the restaurant so a little bit in no-mans-land but I figured that it was probably because it was a large party. The waitress was lovely and accommodated all the requests to change fillings for kids afternoon tea etc. However, I can safely say that the afternoon tea is absolutely not worth the money whatsover. I got some small pastries/cakes, 1 scone and 4 finger sandwiches (2 cheese and onion, 1 with about a teaspoon of ham hock and a chicken and bacon). This cost £24. However, the kids afternoon tea (priced at £9.50) was EXACTLY the same except (and this is what the waitress reported back from the Chef) the "ingredients in the adults afternoon tea sandwiches were much more expensive hence the diffference in price". I almost laughed out loud. So a difference of £14.50 for a tiny bit of ham hock (bread sparsely buttered on one side only) instead of "normal" ham, and 2 cheese and onion sandwiches - cheese was grated rather than a slice as in the kids version... absolutely shocking. Oh, and I've almost forgetten to mention (given that it was so tiny I nearly missed it) the extra sausage roll...which also came with the kids menu. The best value by a mile - on a menu that makes absolutely no sense - was the £6 cream tea which was 2 x scones, jam, cream and tea or coffee. The full afternoon tea was a complete rip-off and I left very disappointed, and frankly, still hungry. Don't book this place if you want a decent afternoon tea that isn't a complete ripoff ! I took my compliant to the manager, who offered me a free drink, but since we were about to leave I couldn't really stay, and that wasn't what I was after anyway. Far better to go back to the drawing board with your afternoon tea menu and figure out how to leave your customers satisifed both in stomach and in mind.
