Good points - room seemed recently redecorated - smelt clean - fan in room - guy on check in was helpful - usb sockets on both sides of bed. Bad points - reception area Is being redone and bar and restaurant seemed closed - no mention of works on booking - bathroom seemed dated still with limescale marks and what appeared to be hairs on floor - room was hot so had to sleep with window open and noise from outside - noise from inside hotel was louder than most - people heard running upstairs. - lots of building work debris - no signage.
Booked one night. The hotel is modern and overall clean. However, the area it is in does not feel safe. beggars waiting by door to acost you when you leave. Witnessed them bothering a lone female guest leaving the hotel. The underground car park is expensive and rough sleepers seem to sleep by cars consuming alchol evidenced by empty Spcial brew cans and food wrappers littered by our car in morning. We werent informed when booking that there was no restaurant. All over hotel and in rooms there are manys advertising the breakfast. We only found out in morning that this wasnt available. Girl behind desk said nearest breakfast was in city centre over a mile away. She did not tell us that we could simply walk next door to premier Inn and buy a lovely breakfast. We luckily found this by accident. Rooms are clean, but noisy and hot as there is no cooling and you cant have windows open because of traffic noise. Overall a generous one star experience. should have booked the Premier Inn next door.…
So disappointed, from looking at the exterior was expecting a new modern quality stay. Not like others I have visited, and expect better. Just the basics aren’t checked, really put a dampener what overall was a nice break. Location isn’t the best, but. 10-15 walk to the town.
Came for a birthday break with family, check in was ok luckily we got there before a coach load of students so we asked if we needed to book breakfast because of the amount of students that checked in and they assured us therr is no need to book breakfast its fine. Anyway next morning we went down to breakfast to find a que so long it was coming out of the canteen area nearly into reception. We sat at our table for arojnd 30 mins to let the que die down but it barely did. We got fed up and joined the que, there was no plates, no knives and forks, not even glasses to have a drink while waiting. We got to front of the que to find no food, we waited about 10 mins for the staff to bring more food and the hash browns were cold and mushy in the middle still. We sat ar our table for 10 mins at least waiting for cuttlery with our breakfasts and they were dirty. The staff were so rude and one member of staff, the small indian guy just blanked people when asked questions, it was a wierd situation. People were getting up and leaving without food and some people were getting up and leaving a full breakfast on the tables because they were waiting so long for cuttlery or mugs for coffee/tea. The sheer amount of wasted food on tbe tables was shocking. Never have i seen such poor organisation and lack of customer service in my life. Apart from that the room was ok, clean and basic but the tv remote was thick with grime in between the buttons. Toilets in reception was out of order. Needs better management urgently…
The rooms were fine however the heat in the room was almost unbearable, there was a fan included but this was not sufficient, there needs to be aircon installed. Also the shower was not great, the shower head cannot be moved which makes it hard to wash and also creates a huge flood on the bathroom floor because all that is stopping the water is a measly curtain which doesn’t work at all.
