We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Cambridge for a family event, mainly because of its location and it has a car park. It's run by an Italian family which shows in the decor (which is also a bit tired and dated) and the fact that, whilst we were visiting, a large party of Italian teenage school children were also staying there (our relatives who live nearby, told us that they often saw large school parties down the road and had wondered where they were staying, so I suspect this is a regular occurrence). however, they were well behaved and not noisy. The noise problem for us came from our cramped double room (no. 116) because underneath us was the kitchen. Despite being assured that the extractor fan was turned off at 10pm, it was actually nearer 11pm, accompanied by constant noise from the kitchen below (there is also a restaurant on the ground floor). When we finally got to sleep, we were awakened again at 5.45 a.m. by more noise below. Conversations began around 6.30 a.m. when (we assumed) another member of staff arrived. The next evening & morning the same thing happened, only we were also awoken at 4.00 a.m. by a guest in the next bedroom clearly packing to leave. On the positive side, the staff themselves were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were good (buffet of cold foods, plus a hot meal) but, for us, 2 broken night's sleep was too much and we won't be returning. (I do wish that when people convert ordinary houses into hotels, they would invest in some decent sound insulation - it would make such a huge difference to guests).
Caters for students. Ok for 1 night. Bed was comfortable. Quiet too. Room 218 had a 4 poster bed, jacuzi bath and sauna. In my opinion there was to much furniture in room. Tea and coffee in room. Decent sized TV. Breakfast good. Full english or continental. Would not stay here again.
A beautiful little property converted into a hotel in a wonderful city and a peaceful location.
Like most other medium budget hotels, Sorrento is a compact little wonder- how do they manage to sleep 2 people on that bed without bumping into each other multiple times and saying hi every time? I mean I could develop a whole new BED-RAGE had I stayed in more such places!
We reached around 9 PM so were never really concerned by the aesthetics and all yet liked the place for its upkeep and general maintenance. Dinner was already taken so went straightaway to sleep, which eluded as much as money eludes us.
Anyway, the bathroom was clean enough, and the included breakfast buffet had ample choices for a fulfilling meal. Though the staff wasn't too happy to serve- maybe their rooms too had minute beds?
Good enough to spend the night if you're set to move to London the next day.
Amazing service as soon as we walked in, with an informative check in and we were asked did we need help with our bags. The rooms were very clean and Italian themed and the beds were extra comfy, had the best nights sleep ever. The food in the restaurant is delicious the spag bol was amazing. The vegetarian breakfast was also delicious with plenty of choice for breakfast . The hotel is only 20 minute walk into town, free parking at the hotel which is brilliant. All staff are really friendly and very polite. A lovely little hotel which made our anniversary weekend as we got married in Italy. Thankyou for a really nice stay :-)
The room we stayed in was classed as "deluxe" which was OK but too much furniture, including a four-poster bed, crammed into a smallish room. The bathroom was almost as big and contained, in our opinion, an unnecessary sauna in the corner! Breakfast was a hit and miss affair having to repeatedly ask the very young (and sullen) staff to top-up the food which took a very long time. The hotel needs updating in places but has the bonus of parking enabling a walk to city centre (about half-hour). OK for us for one night.
