The owner is very nice and friendly always after a good chat, breakfast was ok. This B and B has 8 rooms, 3 of them shares a bathroom. My single room is absolutely tiny, has not got a desk or table. The sink is also very, very tiny, making washing up very difficult and no way…
Was on a visit to Cambridge in Nov 17 and stayed at Carlton Lodge on Chesterton Road. A basic B&B place but run by a very kind hearted gentleman Ciaran Stickeley... It is not a hi-fi place but a nice warm place with a very nice caretaker.. Definitely recommended for anybody…
The only good thing about this place was how nice the owner is. What a lovely helpful lady. But...it smells awful! Fusty and damp. Worst nights sleep ever. Rock hard pillows. Mould on windows. Very very dated decor and furniture. Awful bed.
I've been two consecutive days in cambridge and i stayed in Carlton lodge, the lady was very helpfull and its very kind. The room was super clean and convenient. Has a great location, really near the center and its not expensive. Cheers from Portugal!!
For what I paid I couldn't fault the place. Shared bathroom is never the dream but it was fine. Bed was comfy, decent tv, internet signal wasn't great from my room 6 though. Breakfast is cereal and toast etc. Owner could talk a glass eye to sleep, lovely fella. Will use again.
"Get an double room."
"I had room three, next to the shared bathroom and overlooking the road. It was not as noisy as it could have been, but you might ask if a different room is available if you think this might disturb you."
"All rooms on 2nd floor with stairs only. No views."
"The front room is quieter than you'd expect by a main road, and you're right next to the toilet/shower so you can gauge when best to use it."
