Our stay was a two day treat paid for by our son at rate of £500 voucher. On checking in the price of the room had risen from original booking quote 3 months ago from £195 a night to £224 with both nights charged at different rates? A deposit of £100 was then requested as if we might run off. We had one drink in bar a latte coffee and a CAN ?of beer for£13.45 I can understand why you might want to run We then checked Parkers menu a Celeriac Risotto £26 with £6.50 extra for truffle shavings are they real! On check out there was a£36 balance left over this could not be refunded ? despite it originally being paid in Spring 2021 poor The bedroom and bed were small but the bathroom was great best shower and towels ever but still overpriced
This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Cambridge, the interior is magnificent and steeped in history. Staff are welcoming and courteous. I think the only reason I’ve not given 5 stars is that for the very costly room rate breakfast isn’t included and parking is unavailable. We had to organise our own parking which cost an additional £24 each per night. Otherwise a fine hotel and one we would try to return to as we stay in Cambridge twice a year to meet up.
We only got to stay one night. It was a beautiful hotel room with the unbelievable view of the park. We had cocktails in their gorgeous restaurant lobby area. Very nice customer service. Great fitness center and nice amenities. Would love to stay there longer next time.
First time and really mixed experience - very expensive for what it is Service in bar was simply terrible, waiting 45 minutes for a bottle of wine, 25 minutes for a beer. Senior members of staff wandering around but not doing anything Food in restaurant was mixed. Two of us had steaks that were good, two there’s had Dover dole that was completely over cooked. Obviously someone realised that all was not good as we were given a freebie pudding wine
Do not stay here with children. Ever. We stayed here for the first time since the pandemic and the way the hotel treated us was atrocious. We asked for the hotel to provide us with a small mattress for our child or bed guards and the hotel refused. When we called, we were told someone would look after our request and five hours later — during our child’s bedtime — nothing had been done. We tried to contact a manager and the front desk refused. We posted a negative review and the manager had the audacity to lie and claim it wasn’t true. Beware any hotel that does this. The hotel manager tries to remove all negative reviews but now there are so many that karma is going to come home for him. Marriott cannot possibly continue to employ this person unless they want to watch the hotel ratings fall to a 3.0.…
Faultless stay at the university arms. Gorgeous hotel with exceptional service across the board in both the (excellent) restaurant, Parker’s tavern, and the hotel. Thanks in particular to Alex at the front desk, and Leah in the restaurant - both brilliant without being fawning!
Such a lovely hotel, very friendly and attentive staff. The rooms were perfect, lovely sheets / bedding / towels. The bathroom was soooo clean. The little touches in the room, made it. The late checkout was brilliant, brwakfast very nice, good amount of options. Definitely recommend. Five stars…..
Well located hotel which is walkable from the train station and to key attractions. We were upgraded to a suite on the 8th floor, which was a good size with a large bathroom fitted with a traditional tub and separate shower. The TV in the room could have been larger. Whilst we found the staff very amenable during our stay, we did encounter quite a few niggles. Probably the worst was the lifts not working. In fact, for a spell there was only one lift working for all house-keeping staff and guests...we were compelled to use the stairs! Likewise, the gym is modern and a reasonable size, but was very hot. Breakfast in Parker’s Tavern was a good quality buffet with cooked to order food available from the kitchen (poached eggs, etc). We also had dinner one night at the Tavern which was good but the service was a tad slow. All things considered, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely consider staying here again.…
Good location and friendly staff. It does give me luxury and please feeling so I’m glad overall. Thank you Sabina for arranging everything which makes the experience superb! Kudos to her :) Good: location, staff, maintenance, free bike borrow, amenities brand, cleanliness and view of the suite, cold & hot air-con, floor heating in bathroom Improve: The keycard can bring you to every floor and not just your floor so not very safe considering the area is with all the pubs The suite I was in is a bit dark and the lights are all with electric current sound also I can hear the water sound from pipeline most of the time in the suite
The hotel is ok. no wonder it is only four stars. Staff needs training especially at front desk/reception. They are the image of the hotel. After a transcontinental flight, a rude front desk attendant expected me to wait (4) hours for my room. She brought the manager and thanks to his intervention, my suite became available in 30 minutes. However, every time I passed by reception the grumpy front desk attendant continued behaving poorly. We were at Cambridge for business and as special delegates invited by Cambridge University. Management should address this lack of respect from unprofessional and careless staff members, for discriminatory practices should not be tolerated. The property manager, Kieran James knows who is the identity of the grumpy staff member. It is sad that the image of the hotel becomes compromised with the unprofessional behavior of a front desk receptionist.…
