We only stayed for one night in the basement suite it’s a nice room with a wonderful garden and balcony overlooking the river Avon and to the right the Clifton suspension Bridge the breakfast at the hotel is good the staff are wonderful and helpful Our only grumble would be the room is rather dim the mirror in the bathroom is more suitable for somebody 6 foot six but we would definitely return to the hotel it’s a lovely location And a good all-round service from the staff .

We have been sampling the hotels of Bristol for the past year while visiting our daughter at university there, and have finally found one we really like! I nearly didn't book it as the photos on the website don't do it justice at all. Our room (a deluxe) was about twice the size I had expected, the bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms! The staff were very welcoming on arrival, there was some rather odd offer made about not having your room cleaned in exchange for a glass of wine, which they inferred was for eco reasons, we weren't sure what it was about really (maybe lack of staff we thought) but if it is for eco reasons then a note in the bathroom saying 'please put towels in the bath is you want them changed' would have been less awkward. We did find the lady cleaning the rooms in the morning and we asked her not to change the towels. The bed was fabulous and huge though the lighting arrangement was odd, only one switch to control both bedside lights was rather annoying as my husband likes to read in the night sometimes and he had to get out of bed and walk round to my side to turn the light on, which then also turned mine on. It would be much better to have a rocker switch on each lamp cable. Despite this we slept very well (so well we nearly missed breakfast!) We only had breakfast there one morning, it was very good and the dining room was beautiful and the service impeccable. We had a couple of drinks at the bar which as you would expect had a great selection of wine. One slight gripe, we asked for a newspaper to be delivered on Sunday morning and were told this wasn't possible and we would have to walk to Tesco 10 mins away to get one. One of the pleasures of a weekend away is breakfast in bed with the papers, so I found this rather odd given it's quite an expensive hotel. All the staff were incredibly friendly and professional, it's in a great location and we will definitely be back

Surprise weekend away for my 30th and what a show stopping hotel this is! Would have loved to have stayed longer. The bar was a nice relaxing place to sit and enjoy a gin and the bar staff were lovely. Breakfast in the morning was the nicest I’ve had! The bathroom is spectacular and I enjoyed a relaxing bath in the evening and climbed into the comfiest bed ever.

I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s quality all the way. The location is in the heart of Clifton for restaurants and bars and the rear sun terrace offers glorious views of the Clifton Suspension bridge. The rooms do vary in size but are beautiful and well equipped with comfy beds, high quality bathroom / shower. My latest room was a little small but like most street facing rooms they are quite dark (as are the hotels public areas in corridors reception itself) the bar is quite large and opens to the terrace, drinks premium ish prices. Food is excellent and quality. Staff are all professional well trained and offer a uniformed excellent service. Quality all the way.

Good Friday birthday celebration, menu was rather uninspiring, food presentation acceptable, sea bass was rather dry, medium well steak was served medium rare. Did raise the issues with waiting staff to no avail. A bit of a let down, expected rather more than the average cuisine that was served. Will not be returning anytime soon
